I got rid of most of the valuable knives in my collection and am now under 20 odd knives, I had originally planned on being down to five or six. Just keeping my favorite EDC knives and a few sentimental ones. I never started collecting knives to make money in fact I never even started collecting. I just bought a knife because I wanted to use it and thought it might be better than what I had. Everything I have is a user. I started in my teens and when I turned fifty I realized I had a cabinet full of knives I wasn't likely to ever really use anymore. I thought I had a good idea of what the ones I sold were worth, but I never counted on the aggravation of selling. I started with my most expensive knives. Most of the sales were no problem, but a couple were nightmares. After taking into account selling fees, shipping, time, and the aggravation of winning bidders having second thoughts after winning a sale, I stopped bothering and just kept everything worth less than $100 on the secondary market. I really need to gift off some more.
