  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What is your collection worth?

I got rid of most of the valuable knives in my collection and am now under 20 odd knives, I had originally planned on being down to five or six. Just keeping my favorite EDC knives and a few sentimental ones. I never started collecting knives to make money in fact I never even started collecting. I just bought a knife because I wanted to use it and thought it might be better than what I had. Everything I have is a user. I started in my teens and when I turned fifty I realized I had a cabinet full of knives I wasn't likely to ever really use anymore. I thought I had a good idea of what the ones I sold were worth, but I never counted on the aggravation of selling. I started with my most expensive knives. Most of the sales were no problem, but a couple were nightmares. After taking into account selling fees, shipping, time, and the aggravation of winning bidders having second thoughts after winning a sale, I stopped bothering and just kept everything worth less than $100 on the secondary market. I really need to gift off some more.

Grizz

Probably $80 if I sold today. The good news is I've found knives are fairly easy to sell on the used market. Clothes, backpacks, and various household items aren't as easy in my experience.

I have a bunch, mostly fixed and almost all are under $150. My 2 most prized knives were ones I drew up and Bryan Breeden built. My whole collection is probably around $1500 and most are Mora or Mora-like and a bunch of old butcher knives.

I might own 150 knives. Wild guess is that I've spent $12,000 on them over the past 30 years, and could prolly sell them for $4,000. #getrichquick. But Mrs. Powernoodle and I have lived with no debt for 25 years, I've never had a car payment in my life, we have 370,000 miles on our two cars, our kids went to college for fee, we can retirement with dignity, and I've never owned a bass boat or a set of golf clubs. If losing money on a hobby I enjoy is my worst financial decision, I'm doing pretty good.

My man!
Never having made a car payment impresses me.
I have accumulated a number of knives over the years, because I ll see something I want, and buy it. I ve never sold a knife. I ve given a few away. But the people I give the knives to don t appreciate them nearly as much me.
