I wish I would have kept better records. Like who what and where.Wow that’s specific!!
It actually scares me to think about it.
I started w/cheap Kershaws and CRKTs but quickly graduated to more expensive knives.
The most I've spent for a knife is around $475 and the cheapest lest than $20 but, on average, we're probably in the $100-250 range. Call it $125 on average and the 330+ knives in my collection are "worth" around $40k+ "retail."
Yes, really $40K+! Heck, my gun collection (which only includes around 20 pistols and long guns) is only worth around $20k. So, I guess I've really gone overboard w/my knife collection.

That's a fair question that I have to think about to really answer... Yes, it's certainly a hobby since I collect them more because I like them than actually "need" all of them. However, all the knives I buy are purchased because I want to use them, not just look at them. In that case they are really a set of tools. Truth be told though, I know I could buy much cheaper "tools" that would do pretty much the same job from good companies like Boker, Real Steel, Kershaw and even Gerber. So now I'm back to saying that it's more a hobby than anything. The value matters to me because I may find another knife that I think might be closer to that "perfect" knife I'm looking for, and would need to sell or trade one or more of mine to stay within what I am going to consider to be the maximum amount of money I feel I should spend on my "hobby"
A big part of my hobby began with looking for the perfect gentlemen's knife because I had an executive position in an office environment. I thought the Benchmade Valet was it until I got further into the collection. Now I really think it might be the CRK Small Sebenza. I prefer it over the Zann or large Sebenza because they are pretty good size and don't really fit the gentleman "feel" IMO. An inlayed small Sebenza gives you smooth one handed deployment with quality materials and a fairly no-threatening appearance that is hard to beat. The one thing it is missing that I feel is pretty important for office carry is a deep carry clip. Right now one of the most practical yet concealable knives I carry is the 940-1 with a mini deep carry stonewashed clip. Almost disappears against most pants materials and the blade (although not super attractive) is non threatening as well so I can deploy it almost anywhere without freaking people out.I’m looking to get a classy gentlemen’s knife what do you recommend? I’m thinking of a Micheal Zieba MS3 Damasteel or a Chris Reeve Umnummzaan/ Sebenza 31?
