What is your current “Grail” knife?

A number of Tom Krein’s knives come to mind, and for folders? Too many:D. Certainly a bird’s eye maple Queen Mountain Man would be fine.
Thanks, Neal

I scored a TK11. last month. And I am very happy with it. They are very hard to find. At least as hard as a popular SFO from GEC.

My grail knife is a Rockstead Shu-C-ZDP.

I'd say no to a grail. My knife wanderlust was slaked when I acquired a Malanika puukko, a Dawson damascus bird and trout, a Cold Steel SRK in Carbon V made in the US, and now, just a week or so ago, a limited edition Roselli leuku with sterling silver fittings and an 8" hand forged blade.

Man, I'm set for a long while! Unless it's to purchase a new pocket sheath for the Dawson and a slimmer grind for the SRK.

This custom ryuichi kawamura lockback stockman. Off pattern size with wharncliff and pen blades. And reversed so wharncliff opens right handed instead of the pen. . In stag. Last communication, he was making for next batch of heat treat. About a week ago. I’m hoping to get an email from him soon.

Also have a ploppert cattle knife in ivory that should be ready in next couple months.

Just...wow! I cannot wait to see pics of that!

I seriously want to add a Ron Lake folder to my collection. The problem is finding one for less than $15,000. And Ron's not making a lot of knives any more...

Clay, I'm with you! The Case/Bose Cattle knife is the one that I long for, and probably always will. Amber jigged bone and Ebony, just like in Rick's pic, are the two that would be hard for me to decide between. -Lance

Currently I plan on getting a Buck 119 special when the knife funds are in and when I find one for the right price.
Basically I'm waiting for them to go on sale somewhat cheap at Walmart. It's also gotta have the leather sheath so I can mail it to Buck in exchange for a left handed one.
Im waiting for the right price because it'll cost me shipping to exchange my sheath to Buck.

Can a grail knife be one they don't make? If so then its GEC's version of the improved trapper in African Blackwood...with the one major change being they shrink it down to about 3.5" or so.

If I could have a grail they do make then my current grail has to be a TC Barlow clip blade with Gabon Ebony covers.

Although I'm fortunate enough to own a couple TC and Northfield Barlows, I'd really like to have a spearpoint example of each, ideally the saw-cut TC and the smooth autumn bone NF. Not that I expect I'll actually be able to acquire either of those (especially the saw-cut TC), but hey, a guy can dream! :D

My Current Grail Knife is a Vintage Taylors Eye Witness with a Lambfoot Blade . I looked for one of those for a while and one has been shipped to me . I should have it in a few days . After I receive it , I really do not know what my Next Grail Knife will be .

I think your grail can be whatever you want it to be.

For production knives, the 92 Eureka/Talon in my sig line. $70 a few years ago would have saved me from a lot of wanting and yearning today. I'd love a few various Case/Bose collabs as well.

As for a custom, T.A. Davidson or 5 made to my whims would be nice.

Production: Radio Jack with bottle opener secondary in ebony

Custom: Ruple Lanny Clip in ebony or ivory with acorn shield.

I've reached the point where I have more than enough knives. Any I pick up from here on out are strictly on the basis of want, need has little bearing. But if I had to pick a grail, it would be this bowie. It's probably as close to perfect as any knife I've ever seen.

I'd settle for this much more available, actually attainable production knife.

My Grails were hindsighted. The 440C 15 clip points and the 77 Barlows from last year. I had them, let them go, and then asked for them to come back, and so they did. Also, I designed my own "Grail" fixed blade, which is currently being made.

I can dream up a couple, though. A Barlow, either 15 or 77 with a 440C clip point/long pull blade and sawcut bone covers, and a bullnose with a 440C blade and emerald green burlap micarta covers. Icing on top if GEC would do CPM154 blades instead of 440C, but I figure it'd be a miracle to get the 440 on those knives, as it were.
