What is your current favorite Buck knife?

I'm a new member and have to say that I have learned more in two days of reading blade forums threads than I have in 30 years of collecting, using and loving knives!!! This place rocks!

I have a few Buck knives and I'm always on the hunt for more. I also have other brands but I just have a special relationship with my Bucks. I'm a knife user not a collector and nothing works like a Buck knife. My line up includes; 110, 120, 303, 301, an old camo cross lock, a new Vantage Select, a 373 that was a gift, a 525 and a 103.

Truly love them all. But if I had to pick just one,,,,,,, ugh,,,,,,, that's tough,,,,,,, it would be my old pre-'85 303. I bought it used but in very good shape a few years ago. Since then it has been my favorite EDC an has opened countless boxes and packages, cut miles of string as well as doing kitchen duty and cleaning a trout from time to time. It carries like a dream, holds an edge and is just always there and capable when needed.

With all that said,, a case can also be made for the 110 or the Vantage,,,, and then again how can i forget about my old trusty 301,,,,,,, never mind,, I'm out,,, can't be done,,, no way to choose just one!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks much dogstar.

I found BF online while looking for vintage info on my old 303. Reading the posts of all the friendly and knowledgable members made me want to be part of the group. I'm amazed at all the great info that's here.

Only down side is that my wife is not too thrilled :) Just hanging out here gave me the fever for a new knife. My new 50th ann. 110 will be here in a few days. Who knows, that my become my new favorite Buck.

Here ya go…...

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the edge the 420HC took!!

Dude!!
That is an awesome knife!
I really like how slim it is too.
It also looks way lighter than a stock 110.

Geez.... now I have knife envy.... again..... :)

I've been carrying a green ecolite 110 for 2 months straight. I really like it, BUT I have a 50th anniversary 110 coming so that has potential to be a favorite. I'll probably end up with at least 2 or 3 2014 110s. One to use and a few to put back for my kids.

The 110 on the right weighs 7.6 oz and the one on the left weighs 3.7 oz.

I will be getting to know 420HC in the next 6 months because I plan on carrying that one on the left for about half a year.
I hear people talk about 420HC, but I really have very little experience with it.
I was pleasantly surprised at the edge it took. We'll see how that holds up. :)

Nice!
1/2 the weight and a clip.
I like the 420HC, but I don't use mine very hard, and usually touch them up with a 1000 grit ceramic stone after using them.
It will be cool the hear your thoughts after 6 months of use :)

Hard to pick just one but if I did it would be the 121 as that was my first Buck. Bought for me by my Dad, destroyed by the US Navy for having a blade longer than 3 1/2". It was confiscated by the Marines one night at Long Beach NS for being a concealed deadly weapon. I had it "hidden" in my tackle box. EDC? a 303.

I am torn between the multicolored little Whitaker and a h u g e 124!!

My new paper stone 112 is my new favorite. I was carrying around a standard 112 in the back pocket next to my wallet, and while not exactly heavy, it was not exactly light either. The paper stone 112 is a feather by comparison. Sits there unnoticed until I need it.
I received three of them from an online source, and while trying to figure out which one of the three to carry and testing their sharpness, one of them bit me. Didn't even feel it; just saw the flap of skin smoothly settle on the blade. Bled quite a bit. I guess it was that 112's way of claiming me for his own. Neither of the other two attempted to claim me, so the first one now resides in my back pocket.
Assertive little bugger.

My Vantage Avid is the knife I carry most often.

My Alaskan Vanguard is the knife that got me started in knives as a hobby.

I have been carrying a 279 T for 10 years it is bullet proof. However thinking of my two grandsons I purchased two used Alpha Huntesr off eBay. I just received the 277 in 154 CM today. It needed cleaning and some oil. Which it got. The blade on the 277 is slightly longer maybe at best 1/8th inch with more belly. I think it is a good improvement. I can say I am enjoying the flicking and the blade shape. The thumb stud is sharper. Mine is so well worn it is like a well used pair of gloves. I have one coming tomorrow in 12C27M steel it is unused but no box. I will reserve judgement until tomorrow then let you know. As of right now the 279 T has been my main go to knife for 10 years. I am liking flicking the 154 CM but the thumb stud is kind of sharp. As I recall the 277 was also but I wore it by flicking until it was a perfect fit. Tomorrow will tell me more but the Alpha Hunter just fits the bill for me. Heavy, strong and willing to take anything you can dish it's way. Sadly the 277 wouldn't fit the Kydex sheath I made for the 279 after the original cordera sheath wore through in 3 spots. No problem I will be making a new Kydex sheath tomorrow and fitting it for a parallel to belt carry as is my usual.

My favorite EDC - Buck 192, with steel s30v. He almost blunt in a very long time and holds an edge well cut =)
Prior to that, my favorite was the Buck 102. I would like to have 102 again, with s30v, but it is impossible..

I like all the 112's, but the bottom one here, a Custom Shop 112FG, with Buck's 420HC and oak scales with pins is definitely a favorite.
