What is your dream Buck?

There seem to be alot of opinions on what a drop point is . The BCCI fund raiser was a decent drop point, the steel choice and grind as well . Heat treat was fine and handle too . I may not care for stag but many do . So, that knife is my choice and I finally got one . I'm sure happy with it . Just wish I had purchased both the 110 and 112 when the club offered them . But I'm grateful for what I have . DM

I think you're thinking of DarrylS...I think... ;)

It was the blade profile that turned me off...Reportedly, the original BCCI "order knife" that was shown in the newsletter was prototyped from a clip-point 110 blade that was ground into a drop-point...that one got my attention; it was so pure in form and looked so purposeful...but was never realized... :(

Oh, well...Live and learn...

...Trax is right about the stag in my case. My original fundraiser knife had the bark relieved so far from the bolsters that I only had about 3/4 inch of bark left. Buck replaced it with a real beauty though. The only problem with the replacement was that it never got the finger-groove treatment...LMAO...As it's a "unique" BCCI Fundraiser knife it still sits in my meager stash of Bucks. Trax liked, as I do, the profile of the old 426 drop point blade. I had one coming from ol' Daverooniola a long time ago but he forgot all about it......;)...That's the profile they should have used in the fundraiser knives in Trax's opinion as well as mine...:)

A mind is a terrible thing to waste... ;)

...Mighta had something to do with that West Virginia local pastime too...Here's Ol' Dave's DL from around 17 years ago...;)...:p

Joe Houser is auctioning a combo 110/112 made in the early '70's right now. That's what I would like (can't afford the one in the auction, it's for the collectors anyway). I love those combos, especially with vintage 440C and the older style blades.

Gotta chime in here-----for me, it would be a combo pack of a 103 and a 118, both with stacked leather handles. Cool!!

After hearing so much about them I purchased a early (no year mark) 426 from Larry in 2006 . When we received it we both (as it was to be a gift for my wife) looked it over and she said, you just might still have time to get it in the mail to Leroy then make me a decent drop point for the handle . Which I did . So, somebody ended up with that one . I didn't know there were so many opinions on what constitutes a good drop point blade shape . My Uncle used to say, "thats what makes the horses race, a difference of opinion ". Glad to see some like drop points better than clip points . DM

One of the original Buckmasters would be good, only because I was eyeing it with so much intent during my younger days. Used to pass by the same knife shop every day just to look at it.

It's as useless (?) as most Ramboesque knives go, but these things bring me back to a different time and place...

Thats, a handsome 112 Darryl and with Iron wood . Whats the steel ? Do you carry it in a standard Buck sheath ? Doesn't really matter that good looking knife speaks for itself . Better not loan that out to some student on campus or they'll be gutting a deer with it . DM
