What is your favorite blade type?

As I was reading the response by Susan (on Clay's message board) regarding a kris bladed balisong I thought, "I like a kris blade but Susan doesn't", why doesn't she like them, she thinks that they are ugly (not a problem at all) but I think that they look pretty cool. We all have differences in opinions on what blade our "perfect" balisong has (if we all had a custom balisong made and could afford it).

What is your favorite blade?
Personally I love the scimitar blade (though I've never flipped a bali w/ one before).

What is your least favorite blade?
It's not like I hate this blade, I like it, but it is my least favorite: the utility blade.

Just thought of this: A scimitar blade that is half serrated, wouldn't that be awesome!!

The best manipulating knives I've used have utility or weehawk blades or close variations. The worst are tantos. The worst of all is the BM44. Boy that thing sucks. It sucks so bad that I love working out with one. If you can get that thing to move at all, your 45 is gonna fly.

I love the look of a good Kris blade. Impractical for anything other than hurting people, but a very cool look.

Tantos are my favorite for utility/work blades.

But I would really, really, really, like to see a 5" version of the 42 with a double edged SPIKE blade........ and maybe even serrated on both sides.

Ooooooo Yeah baby.......... pure evil, but completely different.

getting 'em open

I like the weehawk... kriss is also cool... i don't like bowies... they're ugly... serrtions is good-looking... but I can't handle them a day without cutting myself...

My vote is always for the bowie - would prefer a nice deep hollow ground profile if possible - false edges are beautiful and the imada high hollow is just SCARY, then the weehawk, and I just abhor the Bm44 and such tanto shaped blades Xp that's hy i can never keep a BM44 in my collection

I like the way spearpoints look and also like the way the 44 looks(but haven't been able to find one yet) but it seems like the weehawk is more pratical then the others. I just sharpened the swedge on my 42. BOy is that thing scary now. The one side was sharp enough. The first day after sharpening, I cut myself three times. ouch

I like the rough and ready, never gonna break
LOOK of a tanto. Can't say I've ever flipped one though ..

My favourite is the weehawk
I also like a nice tanto (never actually held one in my hand) like on the Herbertz (Germany) 5 1/4" Tanto on Susan's site (4th page in gallary), but I find other tanto blades, such as the one on the BM-44, where the blade gets wider closer to the tip, to be butt ugly. I like tantos better when they're straight(er). I like my blades to be... hmmm... not streamlined.... not symetric... hmmm... I like them to be balanced and shaped as if they're moving straight away from the handle, yet sequrely held in place.

Cameron,
That's funny, I love the utility blade. It's clean and simple. Would I get it on a custom? No.

I love the looks of tanto, on the Emerson, in the last round of customs from benchmade, but I bet it's as blade heavy as my BM44s.

The blade I would choose is a clip point similar to the blade on chucks vault page or the 402/403 (which ever one was the clip point-not the weehawk-I can't recall at the moment).

Kris is my fav. Weehawk second. Spearpoint third.

Least fav is the geometric chisel point, often mischaracterised as a tanto.

Acutally I like em all....I'm sure if the Balisong's we own were used as tools, then our preferences might vary. So we not own one of each.

Hello all....

I really like the Wee Hawk profile. I chose this type as my first purchase back in the days. At present though, I'd have to say it's the Imada High Hollow. To me, that profile just rocks.

Hope to see it's return !

Although I have never flipped one, I really like the look of the custom weehawk-tanto that was offered by Benchmade. Although I would be worried about a heavy blade like that in Ti handles.
