What is your favorite BM Axis ?????

A blue 940. Plain edge. I just received it in a trade and I really like it alot.
Question for anyone who knows: How many of these blue handled 940's where made for the month of Oct?? Thanks!

940BT
710SBT
730 11/00 KotM
940 10/00 Kotm
721S

My favorite is the 730. I love the contoured handles. Feels the best in my hand. An excellent blade shape and I like the way BM does the 154CM. Takes a good edge that is very durable.

Lessee....which one makes the most round trips outa this house ..no question..the original 710. I keep trying to find a better daily user...keep buying them blades cause I'm willing to change...plus I bore easily. No luck yet...me and that 710 have bout a year of daily carry..as part of me now as my old favorite Case's..hardly know what I'd do without either. Gotta say though that SERE2K is in the close running though...but the extra weight and thickness will probably turn it into an also ran..dang close though...maybe I'll grow more into it...who knows. And I thought I was done buying liner locks.

The entire series is just excellent, but my fave is the 710. My favorite 4"-bladed folder in the world is my aluminum 710.

I would have to say that favorite is the 940. It is slim and light. Although it is fairly long, it seems much smaller. The 770 is great little nice also, it is especially good for air travel or offices. AT the risk of sounding wishy washy, the 705 is a great small knife also.

Although there are prettier Axis models, I think the 710 is still the flagship Axis.

What a fantastic knife overall. I thank all the forumites who convinced me to buy it over an Emerson CQC-7!

I just wish I'd had bought one in M-2, but the ATS-34 is more than good enough.

BTW, how did Joe Talmadge get his hands on an aluminum handled one? Lucky [censored]!

I have three, my first was a 710s, second was a 705BT, and third was a 730BT. I like all three, but by a slight margin I would say that the 730 is on the top of the list. Nice blade shape, comfortable handle, just the right size.

Always do right....this will gratify some and astonish the rest.

I currently own 4 Axis models:
710S
705 SBT
720 SBT
730 SBT
I like all of them for different reasons. I don't think there is a best one, but there definitely are ones that I find more comfortable.
The QC...fit/finish, sharpness, solidity, etc., have all been outstanding on mine. I just picked up the 730 SBT yesterday at a clearance sale. I find this the most comfortable to open/close. I love the size, which is substantial but not too large.
IMO the 720 is the tank of the bunch...and they are all solid. The 710 is incredible, but not as comfortable for me to carry as often as the others. The 705 is my favorite "small" one-hand folder for anytime, but esp. when opening a larger folder is inappropriate.
I guess for the time being I will make the 730 my EDC.

Okay here is the answer to my question. There were only 1000 blue handled 940's for the month of Oct. I guess everyone knew how many but me, but one person was kind enough to email me and let me know. Thanks!
The first Axis Lock 710 prototypes were aluminum handled(Thats the one I wanted). Then after the Blade Show '98 they decided to use G10. So I don't have one, but a lucky few do have an aluminum handle 710. Maybe Benchmade will do a KOTM aluminum handled 710 some time this year.

Mine would have to be the 940 followed closely by the 770 which is gaining rapidly. I really like the Osborne designs, they are very neatly done and quite aesthetic.

I'll cast my vote for the 710. Mine came in perfect condition and is as smooth as hell, of course opening is assisted by the large blade.

You could put nacho cheese sauce on it...

My favourite is the 730, but this is biased for 2 reasons...
1. It's the only axis model I have
2. I'm a big fan of the Allen Elishewitz designs

The other Axis model that looks good to me is the 722.

I should like to add to my prior comments on the 770. It has been growing more pleasant with continued carrying. It comes very close to the perfect Gent's Pocket Knife. My only reservation is that, compared to Osborne's 940, it seems sort of plain. I think that it lacks something and that something is the sculpturing that so pleaased me on the 940. This is not a criticism, only a yearning. As one who has always followed the "Form should follow function" dictum, it seems strange to be saying what I have just said, but there is no reason that a functional form cannot be graceful.

710 SBT for me. The only other BM I own is a BM42 Ballisong.
