That's something I didn't think about, but I can see it. Black might make it seem more like a weapon, as much as orange could seem to make it more of a tool.

That's very true, but Maprik does make an interesting point about perception. The same point can be made about how the knife is handled. For example, I normally open my XM's using the flipper. But today I was out in public, in a situation where discretion was a good idea, so I pulled the knife out gently and use both hands to open it. No one seemed concerned when I handled it that way.
Sometimes I wish the bad guys wore black hats so the masses would be less likely to over react to something as innocent as flipping open an XM.
Let those people (bothered by it) try and complain when I use that same knife to assist them or maybe even save them.
Knew it would be loved.
