  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What is your Favourite Outdoor Activity?

Favorite Outdoor Activity: Aluminum boat, cooler full of Budweiser, bass coming off the beds after spawning and the bream and crappie tearing up minnows. Taking all the fish caught and having a fish fry over the camp fire with a side of more budweiser and finally going to sleep under the stars.

For me it's shooting. About four times a year, all my old friends try and get together, cook out, and do some shooting. We check out the new guns some of us obtained since the last meet, and just spend the afternoon catching up. Some burgers, maybe a cigar. It's a good time.

Taking pictures of nature up close and from afar. Canoeing, backpacking, foraging for wood and setting up a fire for the night. Getting settled in at the camp site. Fishing at a quiet little pool by the campsite. Bathing in a fresh rapids. Preparing and eating a shore lunch of fresh caught fish. Finding excuses to use my knives - hence batoning. Removing my boots after a hard days hike. Watching the fire and then taking a moment to look at the stars.

Anther one for the Hunting, Fishing and Caming in that order or any combination of the three. Do not really hike much. I guess scoutting for game could be considered short hikes.

When I lived up north, the winter showshoe or cross country ski treks were tops.

Now I guess I'd say hunting and camping. Although camping isn't really a good description, more like living in the woods for a few days.

1) I like a really LONG dayhike over challenging terrain with a good camp meal & beer/ campfire after. Or...

2) A day tree skiing with blue-black skies after an allnight snow dump. Or...

3) A cool, dry Fall day spent with friends at the local crag working boulder problems. Or...

4) Checking out the Fall colors from a canoe on a two-day paddle trip with my wife.

I've got a big stupid grin on my face just typing this list. Kind of like this :D.

Hiking and backpacking. I have sat on my ass in a cubicle for 25 years so staying on the move is a nice change.

On the other hand my occupation HAS helped my hunting skills. I can set from dawn to dusk in the woods in the same spot where in the past I would get antsy.

Hiking and backpacking for me. I also love just going for walks and shooting some photos. This is a fairly new hobby of mine as I have had a good camera for a little over a year now. Its fun stuff:)

I would have to say playing with a machete, because no matter how often I go camping, backpacking, canoeing, or fishing, I always seem to be doing this while participating in the other activities :P

I backpack ... so I can fly fish . I canoe so I can fly fish. I'm gonna have to go with fly fishing for $2000.

1. Practicing Primitive skills - its a lot of fun to camo up with clay, mud, and soot and then go stalking around for animals, being able to start a fire without bringing anything to the table so to say, etc.
2. Camping with my lady - not quite as rustic but you have added a fun activity you can do anytime anywhere as some other guys have said.
3. Ultimate Frisbee - Really love this sport. Not the best known but is by far the most fun to play.

I enjoy bass and crappie fishing in the summer and grouse hunting in deep snow in the winter, but waterfowl hunting and steelhead fishing is my favorite.

Tied for me with:

Hiking in new places
Taking outdoor pics
Spearfishing - day or night
Beach Camping
Staring at a campfire

Haven't been backpacking yet, but I'm sure that'll rank high.

to many to pick from, its the reason I love the outdoors.

I can tell you one of the most exciting things I done lately is ziplining from mountain to mountain in British Columbia
