  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What is your Favourite Outdoor Activity?

Hunting is first and foremost. Waterfowling, to be exact. I archery hunt for deer and I hunt small game and turkey as well, but my passion has always been waterfowling of any kind.

Fishing would be next but I don't seem to have as much time in the summer any more for that.

I spend a lot of time camping on the beach with my family in the summer in a prime surfcasting area but never seem to be able to wet a line.

I got excited just typing that knowing that the waterfowling season is coming soon.

I really enjoy messing around in small boats on (and occasionally in) the water. Started as a wee lad so I've been a paddler for over 4/5 of my life. I also spend outdoor time hiking/geocaching.
Stay Safe,
Clyde

grilling on my Lodge cast iron hibachi, with lump charcoal and mesquite wood chips, even in the middle of winter.

technically though I like woods rambling. i cant stand having a destination that I "have" to get to, i'd rather wander around and explore - like yesterday i found an old logging road from the early 1900s.

Hiking, fishing, and backpacking. I always feel relaxed doing those three activities, and I love dozing next to my rod when I am fishing off a bank.

There is one other thing that I like that I always have on the bike with me is flyin' my kites, very relaxin'.

Motorcycle travel for me; specifically, motorcycle camping. On a typical trip I ride scenic backroads all day and then find a place to put up my tent for the night - my preference being a primitive site at a state or national forest.

for me the one sport (hobby) that encompasses it all is geocaching
this includes ,
hiking in to get a wilderness cache, many i have done involved a several hour hike

canoing in , one of the best ones we did included a 3 mile canoe down long lake, followed by three portages crossing three more lakes, then back to vehical, 18 hour day to get one cache,,,priceless

interior camping,, goes with above

scuba diving, sometimes the caches are deep

adventure motorcyling to get to the remote caches, My duelsport bike has traveled many fire road miles to get a cache

adventure motorcycling camping ,,goes with above,

and the list goes on

geocaching is a multi-tiered sport that has something for every one at all levels and for as long as i am able i will do the more "adventurous" caches. When i get old(er) and more gimped up i will do the easier ones . It gives up places that you might never learn about or go to without there being a cache out there to find

It's a toss-up between fishing and kayaking for me. I'm fortunately enough to get out a lot on my kayak, sometimes on multi-day trips and very often fishing as well (so kayaking for me also involves camping and fishing; my other two favorite outdoor activities.)

Shooting would come in right behind those three. There's really something zen-like about going to the range and shutting out all of the peripheral sights and sounds to focus one's attention on a singular task.

Fly fishing and backpacking. If I can backpack into a pond or stream and fly fish, that is just about perfect.

That is about as good as it gets. Throw in a few day hikes and I don't see a reason to ever go home...except that my wife makes me. :)
