I am curious as to what knowledgable folks carry as a fixed blade edc, and what they do with them

I use one of these to cut string, rope, boxes, sticks, cane, or whatever

I have a couple of good fixed blades that I carry IWB for concealed carry. A Spyderco Bob Lum tanto and a CRKT Polkowski/Kasper Companion. Both are great fixed blades that are easy to carry, are high quality and don`t cost a mint. The CRKT Companion is IMO one of the best concealed carry knives on the market. Especially considering the low, low cost.

My FB EDC is a PUK from Emerson knives. I've used this one since 2001 and it has been very dependable. I use the butt end to break windows and the blade for cutting seatbelts, bandages, and kevlar motocross suits. My station is near a large motocross track so I use it often. I also use a Strider WP drop point or benchmade 220 resistor....I alternate carrying those.

I sometimes carry a Busse Lean Mean Street in a kydex sheath. As for what I do with it; well I cut things :p I almost only carry it on days that I know I'm going to find myself out in the woods though.

Livesay Woo. General use. Opens a lot of mail.

When I'm in the mood to carry a fixed blade EDC, it's either one of these.

Gossman Knives (formerly Razorback Knives) EDC in Buffalo Horn and D2 or a Charles May FireAnt in Cocobolo and D2.

AG Russell Hunters Scalpel. I use it for opening foil packs of coffee at work, and sometimes cutting poly-tubing. The Hunters Scapel is great; $20, under an ounce, smaller than many folders, and it snaps into a locking sheath.

One of my favorite fixed EDC blades is this Dozier Personal. It just feels great in the hand. I cut whatever needs cutting: boxes, mail, veggies, meat prep, mall ninjas;) , tomato plants, rope, etc.

Either a Strider SLCC or a Marlowe Ute. Then usually a neck knife, 90% of the time a Perrin LaGriffe. Everything from cutting "stuff" out from under cars, opening boxes, cutting rope, cutting brances etc....

I carry a Bob Dozier K-31 Arkansas Traveler with one of Bob's great horizontal cross-draw sheaths. If my pants are on, then the knife is with me. It's always attached to my belt. I also often grab a folder in addition if I'm going out for the entire day.

I'm have a K-4 Straight Hunter that I've sent to Bob to have some custion modifications done to it. Blade made into a very slight drop point, first finger indentation deeper, thumb file work added to spine, and indentations on handle for "indexing" the knife into another grip for SD reasons (I've studied EW-SD for many years). When I get this knife back, it will replace the Arkansas Traveler as my main FB carry.

Benchmade Nimravus 140BT/ Ontario Rat 3 D2/ And I just purchased a Scrap Yard Scrapper 6 that will go into the rotation as soon as I can get some leather for it... WaHooo!!!!!!!!

Today? Spyderco Temperance. Tomorrow? got a bunch to choose from:
BRKT Sandstorm-A, Mini-Canadian, Micro-Canadian
Dozier: straight personal, Ark toothpick, slim outdoorsman, model-6
Craig Camerer: five to choose from
Matt Lamey: Urban Bowie
probably a half dozen more that I'm too lazy to think about and/or write down.

It’s not EDC but it is in the rotation.
I use a BenchMade 211, it’s thick enough to use as a pry bar, and small enough to not to scare people. D-2 holds a good edge as well.

Benchmade 140 I just got carried 2 days. RAT-3 d2, tops scalpel, and a blackhawk Kalista. All straight edge and all in kydex I personally despise leather I think it only belongs on car seats and dress shoes not serious use equipment.

Fallkniven WM1 in a kydex neck sheath:thumbup: . Great little knife! It's used for opening packages, stripping wire, cutting rope, etc...

A very well used Dozier Personal with black micarta and diamond checkered handles. Although it doesn't look as good as fewpops butterscotch micarta! It does all I require in a "personal" blade- cut string, board, tape, coupons; take out splinters; shave off callouses; and cut my favorite meat at meal time. :) For zombie disposal , I' d go for a larger blade- most all the time a Polkowski made.

Busse Pepper Shaker. I often carry other knives, in addition, but carry this one most all the time. I use it mostly outdoors.
