What is your Gentleman carry?

Hi, all. So, what do you carry in your suit? Or, if you regularly carry a knife in your suit, which knife do you save for special occasions? Personally, I carry the Boker Orion. I love that Crystal Blue blade. It is very, very, extremely, cool.

I have impressed EVERYONE I've shown this knife to, including tree-hugging pasifists (it's true!!) Sometimes, for a change, I will carry a slim stag handled Boker single-blade folder. (old fashioned kind) It's got the etching on the blade. Both knives are very slick..... and both are very thin, so they won't crease any of my good clothes. I've got a friend who carries the Spyderco Carbon Fiber Walker in his suit. And what makes that knife special for you that you only save it for special occasions? (besides the fact that they aren't as scratched up

I just got a William Henry CF Lancet. Although I bought it primarily for carry to work (it sits in my shirt pocket attracting zero attention), this knife is definitely suitable (pun intended) for special occasions. Classy, slim, and very, very light.

Dressed up William Henry Lancet, Rainbow series that has been ~Retired~ very classy knife and sheeple friendly to boot!

But I do have one on order that may take it's place, not as pretty but Gentlemanly in a way, one of the WhiteWing folders, singlebladed, wharncliff slipjoint, in CPM3V blade, stag scales. Hope to get it soon! I'll report back once it arrives.

Suit? What's a suit?....And who you callin' a gentleman?

But seriously, on the rare occasions when I do get dressed up (weddings & funerals) , a WH T-12 customized by Frank Recupero goes along for the ride.

Well, I long for the good-old-days (of course, I'm not quite 20, so I can't actually remember them), where a gentleman was always armed, especially when in formal dress. As such, I will probably carry whatever the nicest-looking fixed-blade I have at the time is. As of Spetember or so, that will be a nice 8-1/2" blade (approximately 14" OAL) fighter by Jerry Hossom, with black-coated (AlTiN, not Teflon) blade, damascus bolsters, and green canvas micarta handles, in a leather sheath. And, to make it even more 'showy,' for when I want to carry multiple knives, and still look dressed-up, it will have an 8-1/2" OAL companion of similar materials. Never get tired of describing those knives

Wow, drool, drool, Mr. Utopia; nice knives, I don't think I'd get too tired of describing them either.
The only problem with carrying knives that size is that holsters aren't commonplace with suits anymore

Although I would carry them also, if we lived a better world. And the sheath would have have a silver tip......
Just out of curiousity are you involved in some type of historical recreation society? I understand that this would be the perfect excuse to wear exactly what you just described. (but you might have to go out of your way a little for the clothes)

Sadly, I currently do not own a true "Gentleman's knife"

. Next month however, I should receive my first custom, a gorgeous Keith Coleman folder with a 3 1/4" BG-42 hand-rubbed blade, mokume bolsters, presentation grade desert ironwood scales and gold anodized jeweled liners and clip. Got my Photopoint access ready in advance

It's only a mistake if you fail to learn from it!

Yup, I've really enjoyed working with Mr. Hossom on these. Can't (yet) comment on the quality of his work, although plenty can (and have), but he's been great to work with.

Yeah, but around where I am, even a BM705 (<3" blade) draws stares, so I might as well go for broke. I'll get nice tooled leather sheaths to go with them.

Not involved in historical recreation (although SCA sounds interesting, if I had much more free time than I currently do). I think Micarta woudl be out of place, anyway

My in town knife is a french Laguiole. polished brass and buffalo horn. I get some strange looks when I use it in restraunts. But hey its my way.

I have the perfect Gentlemanly fixed blade?

Nealy 3 1/2" Damascus Aikuchi w/ 416 dovetailed bolsters and green G-10 scales.

As for folders,

a WH T-12 Amber or a Klotli/Walker.

All are slim and easy to carry, and probably the most expensive knives I own.

Ok guys,

Where can I find pictures of the lancet? I have heard of them before, but never actually seen one.

Thanks for the help,

Kris

Griffon, that's a very nice knife, but I wouldn't consider buying it.
Why? Maybe I'm too much of a traditionalist. All of my newer folders must be a one handed opener. However, if it is "old fashioned" looking, then a nail nick is just fine. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Well, geez, what can I say?

I always have my Leatherman Micra on me. And in a suit usually my little Classic SAK.

I would love to have a little pearl handled stockman to carry though.

I too am carrying a William Henry carbon fiber Lancet when dressed up. Not exactly fancy, but "well-suited" for the role. As time goes by, I like that knife more and more.....
