We live in harsh times, so its a good idea to have some backup in you pocket. What knife do you use as your last ditch blade?

I'm not sure I understand the question.

Somehow my first knife choice wouldn't work or got lost or something? Or is it the knife I'd use if I don't want to ruin the others?

Whatever I have on me at the time. Right now it's this:

I carry for utility. If I ever needed to pull a knife for self defense, it would be whatever I had on me. And even then, it would be if I ran outta bullets.

Whatever I have on me at the time. Most likely it would not be a very good knife for self defense. A self defense knife is not a priority.

^^^Awesome!!! The old secret ninja bubble distraction technique!

All the S&W cheapies in this pic. I bought them all for the sole purpose of hanging on my SHTF battle rig, other than the picture the knives have never left this rig nor will they, the pistol makes a trip to the range once or twice a year as it is a major diversion from my regular revolvers. If the time comes where I have to don the rig, and I hope it never does, and use the pistol or even worse one of these knifes, it will truly be my last ditch.

I understand the question, but I don't think I'd do well in a knife-fight. I consider my folders to be utility/tools only. I have a carry permit to assuage my paranoia..

My last ditch knife, when all other knives have failed, is my Victorinox Classic SD. My first line of defense, knife-wise, is my Victorinox Alox Cadet.

As you can perhaps tell, I have no intention of ever using a pocket knife for defense. Also, I am not sure where you live but times are not especially harsher now in my town than they have been in the previous 40 or so years.

Yup. Same here. I don't walk around with the idea I'll use my knife for self defense and I wouldn't feel comfortable. I feel alot more comfy using my pump shotgun or even an aluminum softball bat.

On duty I carry a BM 810 Contego. It's a beast of a knife but carries surprisingly well. I guess you could say it's my last line of defense. I carry a Leatherman that is used most often so that must be the only reason I carry the BM at work.

I don't generally carry any weapon for self defence and the Opinel I sometimes have in my pocket would be ill suited for the role. My first line of defence is awareness. My second is my feet. My third is my voice. If I'm down to my fourth and final line I will bite, gouge and use whatever dirty trick I can. I don't work or live in an environment where a last ditch knife is necessary. If I did I would be looking for something small, accessible and straightforward to use in any grip.

I don't mess around. Someone wants to mess with me, they are going to enter a world of fear and pain that will outperform any nightmare. My sleek weaponry, ultra-violent training and a bloodlust that cannot be slaked will take any assailant by the curlies and twirl them like a cyclone of pants-crapping terror.

Your mocking me, aren't you. lol

I carry a 10" bowie in a small sheath with a sam brown stud slid behind my belt. Its come in handy several times as I live in a very rural area of East TN on a farm. As far as self defense, I carry a .357 mag on me, and an AR in the truck. If for some reason I can't get to those two, then the bowie at least gives me a chance.

I carry poisonous snakes in my pockets to throw at an attacker. Diamondback maybe.... oh that's a revolver too; got a few. Cobra... that's a revolver too... got a couple. I would really be in a quandry trying to decide if I should shoot them or toss a snake at them.

Plus a SAK of course. :D Might need the tweezers.

Some cheap but strong knife. I ain't sending my expensive knives to the evidence locker.
