What is your monthly or yearly knife budget?

I know there are some guys and gals here that drop some serious cash on knives- so what is your usual knife budget. I usually get about 1 per month in the sub $100 range. That may go up a bit to get something I really want, but that usually means I then skip a month. What about you?

I don't necessarily have a knife budget. I have a general budget, and out of that I allocate a certain amount of cash to leisure items (varies). If I choose to buy a knife I end up buying from that allocation. I have been buying knifes frequently so I would say this quarter I have been averaging about $200ish a month. Come the July timeframe I see that figure dropping significantly.

budget schmudget. just do without food for a few days to get the new knife you want.

It varies a lot.Sometimes it's a 100,sometimes it's 300 or more.Depends how good business was last month.

I'm sort of half-saving for a car right now, so it's $0.

Baah, so many blades I want... I hate being a student : (.

No budget per se. I tend to stick to good deals that I can find and only if after the important bills get paid first. I don't collect knives or believe in safe queens so it's whatever catches my eye.

I would like to spend more on knives but I have found lately that I've been putting more of my money towards accessories (sheaths, sharpeners, etc). I feel like I should be outfitting what I currently have with the best stuff before moving on to my next project/knife.
Average per month is between $100 - $200.

No budget--just buy what I like when I come across it or get the urge.

I have a lot of knives and haven't bought a new one in a long time mostly because nothing has peaked my interest in a long time.

No budget. I tend to sell knives periodically to slow the rate of accumulation. But by no means am I as disciplined as those who sell one knife for every new one they buy!

I kind of just go with it. I buy what I like and then I'll sell some other things to try to either break even or go out ahead so I can look into my next purchase.

I never want to know how much I spend on knives total.....but it's less than the wife spends on clothes/shoes/purses.....

i spent $49 dollars the whole year on knives...:(
$10 dollars on a case mini blackhorn for me and $39 for a yeller CV peanut for my dad as a gift...
This years budget is at least $87 as the BFC 2010 Traditional Forum Knife will be available... alas that will go to my dad also.

Depends.

I spent almost $700 in April, bought 4 folders. One was an SnG though. That's not typical though.

I'm hoping to make it through May without buying anything. :o
So far so good.......

May was a very good month for me.I bought two DDR designs this month, amounting to approx. $1100-
I'm going to have to take a break after these.:o

[edit]I sold a couple knives to fund these. They didn't come directly out of my pay.

depends on the paycheck, and if i sell any knives...if i buy alot in a month it prolly wont be more than $500 worth

It used to be around $300 every 3 months - or around $1200 / year, which got me around 6-7 folders.

Ever since the economy fell apart - I changed my habits and promised myself that I would only buy a new knife if I sold off the same dollar amount of the knives that I own.

So far it's worked, and it really forces you to think hard about buying the one you're considering.

Don't have a budget but from the looks of my growing stack of steel I probably should get one pretty quick.

Hi jlamb -

Good question.

I guess I have been spending a little over $150 a month on knives recently.

I do have a few I am going to sell now, since I buy many just to see them and see if I like them.

I don't necessarily need to HAVE one of everything, but I do like to see and play with interesting examples.

I just picked up a Volt blem, so I'll be selling a Kershaw and a Benchmade soon to even things out a little.

best regards -
