What is your monthly or yearly knife budget?

I don't really have one but I try to sell knives I don't use rather than keep spending all the time.

No real monthly budget. After 30 years and 63 folders and 24 fixed blades I've slowed down a bit. Something has to really catch my eye before I buy now.

No budget. I keep my eye out for good deals on new/used knives and if something is useful to me and I really wanted it before, I get it. May have to sell some other stuff, but not a biggie.

I've never had a fixed budget for knives. In the early years of my collecting I bought plenty of models, and recently I realized that most just sit around without getting used. So now I try to really limit myself, not so much in terms of budget, rather in quantity. I am trying very hard to buy only 2 knives per year. I don't always succeed though...

A budget, what a great way to stop spending so much scratch on knives! Thanks for the idea!

This month, i didnt have a budget, considering it was my birthday and i bought a Spyderco Paramilitary for an early graduation present. Ive spent atleast 400$ on knives this month, most of which i got as gifts. Within that 400$ i bought a Spyderco Bob T Slipit, and a Custom Spyderco Harpy, both of which are real nice and im very happy with.

I wanted to buy some knives. Bought a few, and now I'm kind of satiated. Just keeping my eyes open for specials and such.

Manufacturers seem to spend a LOT of time on stuff I'm not that interested in. They also seem to limit the supply of their better designs so a desirable design goes away while there's an endless supply of stuff I have no interest in. Not really a complaint, but the main reason I don't have a "monthly" budget.

I usually end up around $150 a month.
(funny how no one wants to go by the year total)

My wife and I made a deal for the same amount, I'll even add it up: $1800 a year. :) I keep track of how much I spend on a spreadsheet so she can see it if she's curious. Any knives I sell the money goes back into the fund, and for my birthday or Xmas she often gives me another few hundred bucks. I usually end up buying 4-5 nice ones (for me at least) a year.

Budget What!!! I just look around until i just have to have it and go from there. But i'm getting used to pbj samitches and ramen noodles now. :D

I was about at 2 knives a month ( $200-$300) but that's now down to saving change for a knife, as I bought a $31,000 truck recently.. That's ok though, I have about $4,000 of knives to play with. I'm pretty much at my limit.

Ditto, on slush fund there UpChUck. Also I'm buying nothing right now because my business was down 33% last year and YTD is down about 55%. Sucks, big time.

Knife Budget?

DOH! :foot:

Now I realize why I am having to curb my beer enthusiasm! :grumpy:

Wow I never truely knew there are this many knife collectors. I have one guy that him and his nephue have bought 10 or 12 knives from me. I guess they love my work . I only sell fixed blades . I have learned from this forum and knifedogs how to make knives and I havent really sold many so I guesss Im a collector making about 15 or 20 knives a month .,Mostly 200 dollars knives but some as high as 400 and some cheaper ones like 150. The past year lmao ive collected near 125 knives all fixed blades. I need to reduce my collection. kellyw ps im excessive compulsive lol
