I've never handled an Ohta in person, but they all look exceptional in pics. Yours looks extremely versatile as well. If I were ever restricted to only one knife, I think I could be very happy with an Ohta Whittler.

I voted 1k + My most expensive knife I have ever bought. It was much more than 1K but a Platt's Jumbo Swell Center Sunfish, Elred,PA 1900~1905. Full blades and no problems with scales. There is one problem, The pull is a 20 :p

My Case Red Bone Barlow it was 115 bucks when the wife got it for me in 2006.

Your wife has great taste. Is that "pocket worn"? Great Barlow.

Since this thread was revived I've been trying to figure out if we're talking strictly retail or value. Since I have no customs, my most expensive knives can really only be judged by what I paid for them. Otherwise, my most valuable carry knife would likely be the '82 Appaloosa Barlow, which I've seen fetch upwards of $100 in various transactions. I've got some safe queens that exceed that amount but I don't carry them often if at all.

Also a contender by that criterion is my '73 Sunfish, which I've seen go in similar condition for over $100 (and in bone mint for nearly two bills ).

However, if we're strictly talking about retail cost...

The most expensive slippie that I carry is a Case seahorse whittler that I bought at the company store in Bradford, PA. The most used one that I have is a small Case traditional whittler. I have been used traditional whittlers since I talked my father into buying one in 1945 when he returned from WWII. I was nine years old at the time and had been admiring the knife in a display case for months. I have probably gone through 15 or 20 whittlers since then as they keep working their way out of my pocket and hiding. The only time I liked a stockman was when I was smoking a pipe. The small blade on a stockman is great for cleaning the bowl of a pipe but awkward for cleaning finger nails. I now carry Benchmades and CRKs because they have pocket clips and I don't lose them. (confession of an old man.)

the #98 SFO is the most expensive retail user I've purchased at $189. A few others have come in around $150 from the exchange or PM's. Worth every cent to me personally but an increase from their original retail price.

Nice t Davison.

I like his work.

I use some of my custom made knives.

If i didnt how would i know they perform good? they dont do any good as safe queen

I use all my toys (knives, guns, watches, fountain pens, etc.). No matter the cost, mine weren't bought to sit in a safe ...

Same here. I never thought I'd spend that much on a slipjoint that wasn't a custom, but it's sooooooo worth it. Charlie's Texas Camp Knife is instantly as classic as the knife it was based on.

I have a Tony Bose Wharncliffe Trapper in carbon W-2 steel from Don Hanson. I carry and use it every day and it looks it. I just got it back from Tony after a fluff and buff. This is a Kerry Hampton pic from the Bose Thread. It is amazing what a workhorse this little guy can be once you make the decision not to baby it!

Haven't used it hard, but this thread has inspired me to give this one more pocket time. It's my favorite custom slipjoint.

Pics are available out there, but I EDC my Bose/Case Lanny's Clip in Chestnut. It's a beautiful piece of work, the equal to many customs, and just a joy to use.

My non-knife friends would freak if I told them the price.

I originally voted for 50-200, but that was before I bought this one.
