Well...i guess i am a bit chatty today. two posts in one day!

i was just curious though...what is your passion? i guess the best way to clarify is to ask it like this: when you are working throughout the week, what do you most look forward to? what gets you through? what drives you?

and, i am not looking for "spending time with the family." while i hope that is true for all of us, i am more curious about recreation or hobbies.

i'll go first. my passion is skiing.

so yup...i am sitting here and i can't wait to get on the hill tomorrow. so figured i'd throw it out there. i guess i am just looking for a thread to read to help with the countdown. ;)

besides knives? I tend to pick up whatever's available at the time or where I am. I've tried a lot of sports, games, hobbies from friends and organizations wherever I am etc and I enjoy a few hobbies, most knife and outdoor related stuff, hiking, working with wood, etc but - but have never tried winter sport, though skiing seems like fun and I'd like to try it if I could.

But to answer your question "when you are working throughout the week, what do you most look forward to?"

The short answer - is running and writing, I don't do either of them a reason and I look forward to them all the same, and I enjoy them.

If there's something I'm "doing" besides life - family, hobbies, fun - and work - job, bills and cleaning - then them's it. :p

For me it's hunting, with fishing not too far behind. To this day, it is really hard for me to get to sleep the night before a hunt and I wish I had the same kind of enthusiasm when the alarm goes off in the morning every day as I do when it's waking me up to hit the woods or fields.

In winter its ice fishing, and spring, summer, and fall its taking a camping trip on my motorcycle.

Camping!I live in an apartment in the burbs & work in the city and can't wait for my next camping trip.
I used to really be passionate about hunting, but seem to be losing the blood lust as I get older.

Also kinda passionate about knives.;)

funny you mention tipup. i have fished all my life and really love it. each June we head over to Maine for a guys' fly fishing trip. and, it's great. but, it's funny....i have never been ice fishing. BUT!...i am heading out this Sunday! very psyched to try it!

thanks for humoring me guys. good stuff!

definitely fishing, camping and hiking for me. i work on a computer for several hrs a day and always look forward to my 'pole in water time'. as well as our hike ins and car camping trips. oh yeah, and then there's my obsession with sharp pointy things. :D

as we always said growin' up on the water...."fishin' ain't catchin', and catchin' ain't fishin'."

and ya know...sometimes i wonder if i like to do all these outdoorsy things just so i can play with my knives. ;) :D

Hunting, fishing, golfing.
Not necessarily in that order.

Besides my family, my passion is skydiving. I am fortunate enough to get to do it every day as long as the weather is nice :).

If you haven't jumped, you need to! We should organize a JK Jump Weekend Extravaganza!

Man..you ain't jumped till you jump from space.:p

I always wanted to try it.
That's gotta be a blast that's for sure & you get to do it almost everyday?Awesome.

Since family is out, I`m sure no one will believe me when I say my work is my passion. The only other thing I have to look forward to is our semi annual campout (and drinking fest), with the guys.

Well John handcrafting knives for performance and beauty is a great passion to have. Many of us would be glad to have your skills. I repair trucks for a living and it is vary rewarding but after work I love the outdoor solitude of observing the stars with my telescope. Secondary hobbies are antique steam engines and knives of course.

Well, since I don't go fishing or camping like I used to anymore, working in my shop has been my passion lately. I have gotten decent enough at knife modding to have a slight backup in work right now. Having people contact you to make something for them is a weird feeling for me, very humbling, but very rewarding.

I don't know how else to explain it...

No wonder the knives are so nice! Your passion shows.

It`s one of the best feelings you can have! (and you deserve it, everyone I have showed my folder to has been very impressed, especially when I hand them my TL-29 at the same time, and tell them "this is what it started out as.")

very cool pics Hugh! like Myke said...i've always wanted to try it. but alas, that desire wains as i grow older. ;)

and john...like someone else said...your passion shines through in your knifes. and blessed is the man who loves his work.

glenn...i too can attest that your folder mods are top notch. congrats on the newfound passion.

The outdoors. In winter its crosscountry skiing and time spent at the remote cabin. In the snowless seasons its the canoe and the remote cabin. Including hunting and gathering.

Mine moves around with the season.

I primarily love to ride my motorcycles, and I love to take a nice long road trip once a year.

I collect Jack Daniels decanters - I have been a Tennessee Squire for 31 years.

I like to play disc golf, and used to play the pro tour in my younger days.

Now I play darts (soft-tip) and I suppose that is my greatest passion (*pursing lips here not to say grandchildren...), since I play at least once a week and travel to Vegas to play in the International Tournament each year.

I also like to drag race my Corvette, and I like to work on my cars in my garage.

Other than that, I don't do too much. ;^)

best

Mine is definitely bowhunting it's the most fun and most rewarding kind of hunting out there if you ask me. Next would be knives of course, and I'm slowly but surely getting into hiking and camping again.
