What is your passion?

It's good to see that alot of us are getting to do the things that we love. So often in life, things get in the way of following our passion. I guess in the end, you have to drive your passion, make time for it.

Skydiving, HWF, that is pretty darn cool!

agreed glenn. i had kids when i was young (19). they are older now and i am just starting to stretch my proverbial wings. a bucket list is great...drive across country...go to alaska/key west....but, with that said, i am trying to start closer to home. there are plenty of firsts that i can take care of right close to home.

as i mentioned in another post, i want to hike the Long Trail. I am going ice fishing tomorrow. and, not to mention...this past year, i realized that i really enjoy putting handles on knives. i have decided when i think of something new to try, i am going to add it to my list on my iPhone. but, sorry hugh...not sure if skydiving is going to make the list. ;) though, i am not opposed to trying it.

anyway...sorry to roll on here....good stuff guys. keep it coming!

The thing that keeps me sane is my martial arts training--if I can't train, I get anxious, stressed and irritable, and I start dreaming about training. Honestly, my wife insists that I go because I get too cranky otherwise, and with all the stress we've been dealing with I need all the stress relief I can get so I can be there for her.

Hiking and fly fishing mainly, and pretty much anything outside.. I love bushcrafting, and Horace Kephart is a huge inspiration to me. Fly fishing is just awesome. really relaxing and rewarding.

sorry to hear you're going through a stressful time. keep hope alive!

i have fished all my life, but just started fly fishing about 3 years ago. i can see how it can become a passion.

thanks for sharing guys.

TPVT, good luck on your ice fishing outing tomorrow, im sure you will find it quite enjoyable

thanks man. if i'm lucky, i will post a pic or two here tomorrow evening. ;)

I'm so glad to see more folks who LOVE the outdoors. I grew up a military brat and moved all over the country. I was raised outdoors, hunting and fishing. Now that I am living in south FL (not forever!) I cannot, for the life of me, find anyone who I can share with! Nice to have you guys here :)

I would love to try bow hunting and ice fishing as I've never done either, looks like a challenge and looks like a good time! I'd also really enjoy making a knife or just be around to see the whole process. I'd even like to make it to one of the gatherings if you guys wouldn't mind a 'youngin' around!

It`s one of the best feelings you can have! (and you deserve it, everyone I have showed my folder to has been very impressed, especially when I hand them my TL-29 at the same time, and tell them "this is what it started out as.")

I can definately see the passion in your work John! Is there any chance yo have a pic of that TL-29?

Besides knives my passions are fishing, motorcycles basically I like to be outdoors as much as I can:thumbup:

Hunting, trapping, camping, hiking, guns, knives- outdoor activities pretty much sums it up for me.

I was really big into turkey hunting for several years, but lately that passion has subdued a little. Don't get me wrong I still love to turkey hunt just not quite as obsessed with it as I once was. I managed to get my Grandslam the year my daughter was born. I traveled to several states turkey hunting, and enjoyed every bit of it, but it'd be hard to do that now with the family.

Another thing I really enjoy doing is find, and "explore" the smaller, out of the way towns. You would be surprised how many of these have tiny antique and resale shops with great deals, not to mention the small hardware stores with outdated prices on knives. Plus, I love old buildings.

that's always fun, we'll drive around and look for those and we like trying to explore abandoned places, flea markets, under visited historical sites etc, and then we take pictures...mine have knives in them :)

more good stuff guys. i also like to hit up the flea markets/shops that i find. though, now that i think about it, i haven't done that in quite a while.

my first day of ice fishing was a success. looks like surf & turf tonight!

I love this too. Ive had some cool finds in small country antique stores.. I once found a knife with a deer foot for a handle... Yeah.. I really wish i would have bought it... It would be a great conversation piece!

TPVT - Ive been fishing my whole life also, but since discovering fly fishing, its my preferred method of fishing. You can really get lost in a day while fly fishing! Those fish look great! Im gonna guess.. Perch?

yeah man...the rhythm. i find peace on the river. that is why i like skiing. it doesn't matter what's going on in life...i can go to the mountain and find peace. and yes...perch.

I hope to rediscover some of my former passions this year. I've been skiing for forty years, fat tire riding for thirty years and was an avid climber for more than twenty five years before I entered my slug phase. I have, however, been doing a fair amount of hiking and SUP in recent years. I just like being outside.

Jeff
