What is your plan for the end times?

^^^Don, sadly, I fear you are right. I've found that in recent years as I've gotten older, the global picture looks more and more dismal every day. Too much corruption, everyone is only looking out for #1. The more people see others do it, the more they tend to do it themselves and it perpetuates.
It's part of the reason I've been so hesitant to start a family. What sort of world would I be bringing a child into?

I don't know how it can continue on this way without one of two things happening, some sort of leveling and reckoning which is going to be extremely unpleasant and incredibly violent or, absolute despotism on a worldwide level which is also going to be extremely unpleasant and incredibly violent. I'm 42 the end of this month, if I don't see it, surely my Son who just turned 14 this Spring, will.

We are standing at the crossroads.

Perhaps neither will happen except for the tyranny portion. Maybe it will be just a slow burn as the whole world basically becomes what the Soviet Union was at its zenith, I just don't know. I do know it is not going to be good.

i have an easy plan. get a lot of booze, a shotgun, ammo and build a well hidden tree house. and have an ESEE-5. not that it will matter much, but i just like it

Whatever happens, I plan to stay as low profile as possible and bug in if at all possible. Don't make too much noise, don't let others know what you have. As someone else has already stated, be the "gray man". Plan ahead now and adapt when it comes.

I have slowly been prepping for the last 2 years. This has included as much online and real life experience as possible, stocking up on food, water, water purification systems, cooking equipment, general supplies, camping equipment, knives, etc.

I still need a power generator, some solar power and more seeds to plant.

I also need to get my firearms training, permits and then ofcourse a few firearms. Living in Ontario, Canada there is a process to this.

I intend to bug-in with my family, unless there is no choice but to move. I can only imagine a large natural disaster (where I am not a great chance of this) or in the worse case some sort of nuclear/chemical fallout which would make me move. I can imagine a large amount of civil unrest such as rioting and looting would get me moving as well.

Hoping to move further north next year and have a bit more land, this would get me further away from the chances of any civil unrest. Then I want to have some sheep, chickens and a larger veggie garden. Actually, looking forward to becomming more self reliant.

I am actually expecting and preparing for some very bad things. Hope I am wrong, but I think there is a bad moon rising.

1 Thessalonians 5:9: "For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ."

1 Thessalonians 4:16 "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first."

1 Thessalonians 4:17: "After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."

That's my plan of attack! :D

Amen, I'm honestly not concerned about 2012 if the tribulation begins then either a I'll be raptured. There has to be peace treaty between Israel and there enemies before the tribulation starts anyways. And 2012 won't be when it all ends because the end will be 7 years after the peace treaty and even if the treaty was today then it still won't be 7 years.

Now I am prepared for people causing a problem during 2012.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, but I'm pretty sure that when the world ends in 2012 it'll be by the hands of the Palin Administration... I would take brain-eating zombies, ass cooking solar flares, continent leveling asteroids, and hundred foot waves over the "Palin Apocalypse" any day. Fer real people.
As far as my plan goes for the Palin catastrophe, I'd have to follow the lyrics of Muddy Waters: "Give me champagne when I'm thirsty, Give me reefer when I wanna get high."

It's hard to tell if everyone is being tongue and cheek in this thread because some people are clearly joking around and others... are not.
However, I'm not that old and I already feel that way. I feel like punching hole in the wall every time I think about politics, racism, and greed.
uh Gobama!

I'll probably just buy a TV on December 20th and sit back and watch the idiocy ensue.

On a related note, and just to clarify, the Mayan calender doesn't end in 2012 or ever actually. It rolls over like a clock. 2012 (speculation) is just the 13th rollover of the longest part (long count) ending on the winter solstice (Which isn't actually true as that would entail that the Mayans created the calender 66,674 years ago, which of course they didn't.)

Of course, I could be wrong, in which case I'm gonna stock up on Funyons and root beer and get really really high.

bhahaha that was awesome! Damn good post, damn good post indeed

This song makes me think of Will Smith in Legend playing in the ruins of the city hunting deer and such. It conjures up some pretty creative images of exploring the ruins of humanity after some kind of world ending event.

You think you had the last laugh
Now you know that this can't be true
Even though the sun shines down upon you now
Sometimes you must feel blue
You make the best of each new day
You try not to be sad
Even though the sky falls down upon you
Call it midnight feeling bad

When you wake up to the promise
Of your dream world coming true
With one less friend to call on
Was it someone that I knew?
Away you will go sailing
In a race among the ruins
If you plan to face tomorrow, do it soon...

I am with you brother. And don't forget...
Matthew 24:36- "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone." ;)

Ah, what will be the signs of thy coming and of the end of the age...

Earthquakes in diverse places, etc.

I'm agnostic. I wasn't raised a Christian but I was thrust into that after my Dad died after my Mother sought answers to questions I didn't need.

It's interesting to ponder, however. Even atheists should beware of bad times coming.

Just like there are religious people who do good things, even if God doesn't exist, there are bad people who do bad things because they believe in Satan.

What if God doesn't exist and the bad people keep doing bad things?

What if good and righteousness does NOT triumph and instead we get as George Orwell described so brutally:

"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stomping on a human face...forever."

"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stomping on a human face...forever."

That's the way life's always been. Thank God for optimism, intermittent good times, lefse, paul harvey wild rice soup, high volume production alcohol, mountains and most importantly, hope.

Man if I'm wrong then I die a happy person thinking knowing I'm going to heaven, even if it turns out I just go into nothingness. But if your wrong, it doesn't work out for you that great.

And might I point out there is allot of earthquakes going around lately.

Ah, what will be the signs of thy coming and of the end of the age...

"Some say a comet will fall from the sky.
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves.
Followed by fault lines that cannot sit still.
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dips---s."

Eh, bad times are always "coming". People like to freak out. It gives 'em something to do. If the Earth floods, the poles shift, or deities start coming down to kick ass and take names, all the MREs in the world aren't gonna amount to much. You can either run around flailing your arms or chill out and watch the spectacle. In the event of a more minor world ending, I probably wouldn't notice till my internet connection went down, and at that point all hope is lost anyway.

There are ALOT of earthquakes going around, all the time. There are also lots of tornadoes, hurricanes, tidal waves, tsunamis, mass flooding, train and airplane crashes, solar flares, mudslides, lightning strikes, forest fires, and just about every other 'signal of end times' that have been occurring since the written history of the human species. Whether the world ends or not isn't the issue. The fact of the matter is there are isolated events in which it may seem the world is ending to YOU, even though less than a mile away someone will be warm and cozy, hydrated, with a fat belly. It's being mentally and physically prepared to survive those situations that is what counts.
