What is your rarest knife?

I've only ever seen one come up for sale...and I bought it🤣 The mokume one was a personal I've the wife had converted by Butch for my birthday way back when.

I remember seeing one a few years ago either here or maybe it was the big auction site? I thought about it and then it was gone. If I ever see one, it's an instant buy for me.

Rare? That would be a Shaka single-edge fighter in L-6, made in a saw-sharpening shop in Zimbabwe in the early 90s. Also a sterile Peter Bauchop Witch fighter, from South Africa.
I have a Blackjack Magnum Camp Knife, with original Kenny Rowe pin-lock sheath. Not really rare, but definitely uncommon. This one would evolve into the Kabar/Becker BK-5. I also have one of those, but they are completely different knives.
I always wanted one of Mr. Bauchops Witch knives. Congratulations on owning that nice knife!

Here is my rareist, not sure of the history Tho. It was either my fathers who was born in 1925, or my step fathers who was born in 1913, so possibly a hand me down from their father? I found it when I was going through their possessions when I was packing up the family home when my mother passed. The blade is marked with the name Ed Wusthof, Solingen. One scale side is embossed August Ay, and the other side is embossed a date 1907. All the springs are still tight, and the scissors are sharp and still cut paper. That’s a Large Inkosi, for a size reference. It looks like it was well usedView attachment 1574862View attachment 1574863View attachment 1574864

you one-upped my old, rare Swiss army knife nicely

It's probably this T.O.A.D. This is one of roughly 5 (per Gavin) that were never finished from the original batches. Gavin refinished them circa 2012 and added bearings vs. the originals washers. As a result, this is one of the few engraved G&G Hawk. The originals were so early that they were engraved G.W. Hawk (Grant).

100 plus year old made in USA Robeson Pocket Ez pen knife. .... or maybe my SEEMEEL (made in Sheffield, England) pen knife?
Don't have access to the Robeson, or a picture of it.

I'm gussing both are less common than my Taylor Schrade Hammer Brand 4 blade canoe gunboat?

The Allen Blade is probably the most rare. This is one my Dad ordered. The Klotzi is still sold but this one is a very early example from about 20 years ago when CF scales were pretty rare. And the Microtech socom mini can be hard to find. I’m lucky to have 3. They are my favorite knife and my usual EDC.

Tapio Wirkkala puukko. Paid $35 for it out of the Brookstone catalog sometime in the early ā€˜80s. They are not all that thin on the ground. Several members here have them, but you don’t see them often.
Rhombic cross-section and not quite a zero grind, but pretty close.

I’ll have to get a pic of the blade etch when I get some good light.

I'm one of those members who has a Tapio Wirkkala puukko, which was produced by Hackman in Finland.
I also have the Hackman split handle Puukko. They're rare mostly because they are old. 1970's.

There's a story that the split handle was originally designed for the CIA. I dunno about that, I bought both knives from Brookstone, a tool catalog company back in the early 1970's.

I've been told by a fella in a postion to know that the steel on both is Sandvik 12C27.

This is a one-off from the already rare "Gornych" custom modifications done by Nasgul RU on the Shirogorov F-95

unlike the typical "Gornych" this 'one of one' was made from a 3-bears F-95 Nudist, M390 Blade, and has ceramic bearings, polished flats, and deep engraving inside and outside the scales...

other than my old Millie, this will be the last one I sell...

A ā€˜sterile’ BK9, Camillus made, but not a single mark on it to designate make or model!

Second would be a Rob Simonich ā€œproject bladeā€ Kanji he sold for guys to finish as they’d like. Even the edge wasn’t fully profiled when I got it and I had to use a file and stones to get it to shape…Never mounted handle scales, just did a paracord wrap.
