What is your zombie-killer of choice?

Well, my 1st choice would be one of my firearms (FN-Fal or my Ithaca Police Special SG would my choices), but if I needed a blade, I guess I'd reach for my Katana or Ontario SP14 Tanto (10" 1095 blade).

My ideal would be AK-47 with custom fit 12-gauge under barrel, similar to U.S. M4 MasterKey. Pure mean 7,62mm slug that shoots thru tree if necessary due heavier slug and stop still zombie (though anything shooting one of most common calibres .308 rifle would be sufficient). Then Nail / Spiked baseball bat (for light and effective way to cause zombie fatal cranial damage) and my Nepalese Khukri with 14" blade.

So far I only got the khukri... So if Zombie would invade me now, I would grap my Khukri and went search for: Good axe and fire arm.

Ice Axe...DUH!

Bash zombie-heads...and...

After global warming melts loose galciers and they slide into town, climb it with the Ice Axe!

Then steer it!

To a bar!

...Full of still-fresh hot nubile naked female zombie strippers from Mars!

Chained up to the poles!

I lived in the back of a funeral home for 3 years. My little room was right above the embalming room where they stored the zombies. In the middle of the night, when it was storming outside and the electricity was flickering, my S&W 357 mag K-frame was the only thing that let me sleep. If I had to sleep with zombies again, I think I would spoon with a Remington 870 Police.

my choice would be a PKM belt fed machinegun with 100 round ammo box, and for support a 9mm and a tactical tomahawk on me.:p

Actually this reminds me: Do zombies show up on thermal O_o

Great question!

It depends on the type of zombie folklore.

Voodoo type zombies (Weekend at Bernie's II) have more of a mystical powersource that's reanimating the dead bodies...so I'd say no thermal signature.

"The Virus" trope type zombies on the other hand are simply human beings that have been transformed by a mutagenic contagion of which the origins can be:

-viral (28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, Quarantine, Resident Evil, etc),
-nanorobotic (Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots, Red Faction, etc),
-an extraterristerial parasite (Night of the Creeps, The Thing, Slither, X-files, Silent Hill, Star Trek TNG, etc),
-biochemical (DC2 from Planet terror),
-or mysterious radiological contamination (Romero's Night of the Living Dead).

Viral, and nanorobotic make the most plausible sense to me since these can actually be targeted at specific changes in DNA, while biochemical and radiological mutagens simply damage/mutate all the DNA and only by super rare chance will the correct "zombie code" be set.

And since these type of "zombies" are still physical, corporeal, non-mystical, biological beings that actually can be killed via total-incineration, or extreme CNS damage...I'd say thermal signature exists.

But even if "The Virus" mutates their bodies to generate such a low body temperature (for metabolic efficiency reasons) that blends their thermal signature into the background thermal radiation, it is still a moot point.

WHY?

Because the AC130 doesn't track by thermal night vision alone.

It has the AN/APQ-180 radar system that tracks air and ground targets beyond visual range to close range in all weather types, night or day.

Also keep in mind the AC130 can do day-missions and track by normal visual tracking along with the radar.

Since zombies tend to rove in hordes (which is the main reason why these contagious zombies are so dangerous regardless of their slow or fast speeds) their radar and visual signature will be huge....you'd have to be blind not spot them.

But with all that said, I don't believe in zombies lol.

The movie Quarantine, and 28 days later is somewhat realistic since these "zombie viruses" were based off of the rabies virus symptoms which causes encephalitis of the brain leading to extremely violent behaviours, paranoia, hallucinations, psychosis, and death.

Also in theory when medical nanorobotics are developed in the future...it is theorized that it can be used for gene-therapies more effectively than simply modifying viruses as a DNA carrier/vector. So nanorobots can theorhetically either mutate your genes and turn you into a zombie or affect your mind into becoming a mindless "zombie horde" (Metal Gear Solid 4).

Oh and as for the extraterrestrial parasite thing...I don't believe in aliens either.:p

Damn I wrote alot...hope it wasn't a wall of text for you guys. I tried to space things out a bit.

I plan on getting a Condor machete soon in the 18" range, but until then all I have aer knives in the 2-4" range. If I had to leave because an outbreak I'd probably grab a crowbar.

...come to think of it, Zombie infestation would be a great excuse for me to try out one of these on something more than the pumpkins I dispatched after holloween....

...though the Claymore weighs about 12 lbs, so I think it would get rather tiring pretty quickly.
....Can't imagine what it must've been like to swing one of these in actual battle for very long.

What the heck IS that thing???

In an earlier post, I had mentioned a loggers pickaroon, but at the time didn't have a pic to post of one. Sorry for the lack of explanation earlier. I figure something like this would be quite good for pokin' holes in zombie heads without having to worry about an edge getting notched on hardened bone... still not as common as my first pick, the framing hammer, though.
