What it feels like to lose a (special) Sebenza

I like to tie a noose knot and hang mine around my neck. Not recommended when working around machinery.

You've got an eagle eye there, old boy ! Glad you found it, that would be a crusher to lose that one. :)

I use a "pistol keeper" style lanyard for work like that where it can get snagged out the pcket, dropped into deep or fast water etc. They work well and the knife stays attached even during use so there is no chance of losing it. :)

I'm happy to see you recover your knife. This was something I dreaded happening until I got a CRK belt sheath for my Sebenza. The only knives I'd pocket clip carry now are Kershaws or cheap Spydercos.

LOL on the lanyard! I've lost a couple of "nice" knives over the years - it sucks. Never approaching a CRK knife though. Congrats!

Glad you were able to find your knife, although it sucks that the folks you were there with were so unhelpful.

Wow you are very lucky to have spotted it like that, glad you got it back! Losing that one would have been tough, it's a beautiful knife!!

Glad your story has a happy ending. I lost a large 21 silver dog paws earlier this year. I had a 4 crk folder rotation. When I went to get the dog paws, it was gone. I have no idea how or where I lost it. I CAN tell you its a feeling you never get over. I still find myself looking through totes, bags, ANYWHERE it may be. After almost 10 months, its a pretty safe bet its gone forever. It really sucks, Trust Me....!!!

Great story, I'm glad you found it! That's really nice of you to help out in the first place. It would've been a shame had you not retrieved it, while going out of your way for someone else! All's well that ends well

Sometimes it feels like no good deed goes unpunished:)

After finding it, my buddy explained that some lady drove up to where he works (a few doors down from where I was searching) and needed air in her tire, so he checked and aired all her tires. He of course charged nothing for the service. Another customer came in so he went to deal with them and the lady proceeds to back into his truck and then drive off.

He got her license, called the cops, and the cops got her. He showed the cops the damage to the back of the truck. Then, get this, she calls BS stating that she bumped the front of the truck (not the back). The cops found another whitness who said he saw her smash the back and run.

It all ended well, but what fort of defense is it to claim you hit and ran the front and not the back?!? People...

Seems he got a little stress out of the morning too.

Congratulations! Thank goodness that quarter-sized piece was sticking out...amazing luck.

Was it near one of the brush piles, or out in the open?

I remember nyfemaker losing the dog paws, and still feel bad about that one. It hurts all the way to Ohio.

Hey, iPhone has the "find my phone" software, maybe a necessary new feature for our most prized knives?

As stated already, I'm glad you have your Sebenza back.
I can usually spot items in a photo, but that lost Sebenza in the photo stumped me.
So glad you have your fingernail scraper back :)

It was under the brush pile. I'm sure I probably stepped on it a few times and ultimately buried it myself.

I was a little surprised that it was only a little gritty when I opened it. I put it to my mouth and blew it out and it was smooth again. I might take it down today just to see how thing are.

I would trash those pants! I'm just going to go out on a limb here and assume the CRK is worth more than they are. ;)

I don't know whether I'm better than you at losing things, or finding them...;)...but I have had things turn up mysteriously several years later. :p So - here's hoping for a happy outcome, eventually. :)
