What jewelry do you have with you on hikes/camping.

Just a nice paracord necklace with a neck knife and firesteel attached to it :)
Maybe a cheap Marathon Navigator's tritium watch on a nylon strap.

I don't own any. Never have/never will.
As far as I'm concerned the entire concept of jewelry is idiotic.
Why not just stab a hole through your nose an stuff a chicken bone through it ?

Why not indeed. I'm not into the face piercing thing but I don't see any difference between someone doing that, some ponce in hand stitched crocodile loafers, # 1 dress, and the medallion of medallion-man. Unless it is some strictly functional tool type thing all of it is about conferring some advantage by mind molesting and the lines are arbitrary. The gaudy display could be the car he drives, the baubles he wears, artificially colored toilet bowl white teeth or something a bit off the beaten track like scarification. If you're after snagging an old magpie seeking a pearl necklace flashing Chinos, deck shoes, and a gold watch is probably going to help during Cowes Week. Fruits that don't want to land far from their tree attend to a different type of fashion, and so on. All of us have some things we find more agreeable than others. Personally I hate gold, think the Giraffe Women of Africa look kinda dumb, marvel at those budgie-mirror ear rings, and having undergone a medical procedure that was pretty much identical to scarification I wonder at it. But they bother me only as much as when I have to wear a neck tie and cummerbund. The only difference to my mind is that because many of us have done away with community and extended family and live more at a tribal level amongst people we choose there's much greater diversity. I think other people's bags are supposed to be odd because they aren't your tribe. Your props aren't designed to have any leverage on them nor theirs on you. Still, however bizarre it gets nothing is so bizarre as when they are stripped away like a “70s science fiction movie with everyone the same and in boiler suits. You can go to jail and get that...enter the prison tat.

Baldtaco-II...that was waaaay too deep:D

Just thinking about it...why not "functional" jewelry? A paracord bracelet, maybe a Rik Palm Fire Genie necklace or one of his niftly little "Pocket Arrowhead Knives" as a necklace? I'm not a jewelry-guy, but I do believe in functionality. "Bling" is a bad thing in the military and I much prefer to keep a low profile...some necessary devices should have functionality like the "tactical" pen I wear daily for a writing implement; it looks "professional", yet I can still use it to stab through your eye and kill you:D Functional "jewelry" with a purpose:thumbup:

I'm with you on the pen. The paracord bracelet type thing doesn't sit well with me simply because I'm more of a bit of string in the pocket sort of person. No other reason.

As for other things, I'm loathed to think of many that I would actually use with any real benefit. I think many things in this area come under gadgets and I don't usually like that so much. Kinda like knives where people try to build in too many attributes just as a marketing ploy and they cease to become excellent at anything. Some stuff seems ok though. I'm thinking of zip pulls and buckles with built in whistles and LEDs. If it is discreet and doesn't compromise the integrity of the piece then good. But then there's novelty items with little compasses in with no realistic practical application for me. Tricky one. I have a pipe that is also a necklace. That's borderline for me, but I suppose the fact I haven't used it in a long time should tell me a lot. I think more often than not I'm more minded to press anything into service that will work even if it was never intended to. Back to the pen thing I guess – my fountain pen would plunge as deep as a Cold Steel job, but I figure I'd like writing with it better in the interim. :)

I think we're on the same sheet of music. I don't have a para-cord braclet, but I know some that wear them. I'm always using paracord for something, so I just carry a few braided pieces in my pockets as well. Good point on such items as zipper pulls that are LED's or whistles...not necessarily "jewelry", but still dual-function pieces of clothing/gear:thumbup:

i wear a few things every day, wedding ring, 4 g ss ear ring, rubber o-ring on middle finger, ring i made from a guitar string on my other ring finger, timex chrono, two survival bracelets,, a break-away neclace with a photon light, and a necklace with 2 guitar picks on it, one of ebony, one of ivory.
i guess it may be excessive to some, but i'm used to wearing them.

The one thing i noticed is that most of you are married lol.. But i wont hold that against any of you.. We all know how much smarter women are and they know how to make us do things.. And be very happy to do them as well... Well a completly diffrent topic to talk about lol....
As for me i always wear my silver neckless with the star of david on it 24\7 and a watch. So If i die and someone finds my bones that would be the only way they would know who im..

most of the time I'm wearing a presta valve adapter with black necklace cord around my neck (after losing the first five or not having them on me when I absolutely needed them I figured tying one to my body was the best way to ensure I was able to find it), but it's pretty tight and doubt it's going to snag on much. I remember my first time swimming a Class IV rapid (Snowhole) I had one of those glasses bands on my sunnies and the chin strap on my boonie hat, and in the adrenaline-fueled panic of being strapped in an inflatable kayak under water, ripped both of them clear off. Thankfully I couldn't find my Rudy Projects while packing, and the glasses were 5 dollar gas station cheapos, and the Boonie was recovered. Since then I've become a pro at swimming rapids and everything it entails, now that's much less of an issue.

I have my nipples pierced, so I guess those come with me everywhere. A watch if I have one (I break a lot of watches and don't always replace them right away). A necklace if I'm in the mood. I wear anklets until they fall off. Right now I have a cloth strap on my left ankle and a hemp with wood beads one on my right that a friend made for me. I have my left ear pierced, but only occasionally wear an earing.

I keep it pretty simple most of the time. I don't like having stuff flopping around when I run or move, and I do a decent amount of physical stuff.

Watch on left wrist and on the right wrist I wear a paracord bracelet and a hemp bracelet. I made both and never take them off.

I am the opposite of most people here, I tend to like jewelry and dislike tattoos (other than on women which i find attractive same with dyed hair etc)

I dont like having identifying marks on myself, i can always take my jewlery off espeacially since i havent worn an earing since i joined the military and i prefer ear cuffs now so i wont repierce my ear when i ETS.

I wear a few different things, A rune of defense and pentagram with onyx is what im currently wearing in afghanistan along with a casio g-shock watch, but when im in the civilian world i wear all sorts of things necklaces braclets and rings earcuffs etc plus fine watches. My only thing is that i like smaller peices as i think that jewelry is supposed to accent not overwhelm. Also i like titanium silver and steel, im not fond of gold.

Oh and i have skulls on my knives tomahawks and select other gear as well. I even have one skull that has tritium in the eye sockets.

Hikes, camping, on the water I'll wear a watch of have it in my pocket. When stuff involves other people especially kids there's always 'I'll be back by", "I'll meet you at" and the little alarm sometimes gets me up at a reasonable time.

It's pretty plain with a cloth band so to call it "jewelry" would be stretching things.
