What kind of folder do you carry?

OOOOO, tell me more. It’s been a while since I ordered a custom slipjoint but man, the prices are getting up there, especially for newer makers. The insta-famous market is nuts which includes custom fixed blade makers also. And axes (Hoffman) lol.

I am currently on Rhidian's books for an unusual Lambsfoot design based on a vintage example that I have. I also am on Craig Brewer's books for a Wharncliffe Trapper. Both made no promises with regards to time frame and I expect both to be pretty expensive.

I haven't tried too many Insta-makers, to be honest. Mostly because I am a bit wary of any maker that does their business solely on a social media outlet - plus, a hot maker drives the hype up which contributes to long wait times and higher prices.

Don't get me started on Liam's axes (a prime example of above)... He is a fantastic and gifted maker and I wish him all the success he deserves but holy hell, I am not waiting that long and paying THAT much for a bloody axe.

A couple from Ken Erickson...

The "Maroon Marauder" as I like to call it...

And our very first project which we designed together:

I've heard great things about Ken's knives - I really like the looks of that bottom one (has that German flair to it).

Pàdruig Pàdruig nice, the wait should be worth it! I’ve had unclear wait times that came up sooner than I expected, especially when asking for a pretty popular pattern. People back out for all sorts of reasons or ask to be skipped so it can be easy to slide you in.

Ken's workmanship is exceptional. He also jigs the bone himself.

He started out as a gunsmith...and the precision in his work is quite evident.

I miss having him around here, but I speak with him every few months.

Weird Wednesday with an old Pabu leverlock gravity knife😎

`A blast from the past! I also have a couple of these Cold Steel copies of the Opinel lock stashed away, the 31-L large and the 31-M medium versions with the "Carbon V" blades. My research seems to indicate that the "Carbon V" steel used by Cold Steel was really made by Camillus and is in actuality Camillus' custom 01706C high-carbon steel. I've found that very few carbon steels take an edge like the old 01706C camillus steel blades. I grew up 20 minutes south of the old Camillus knife factory in Camillus, NY. It was a real shame when they were forced into bankrupcy by their worker's strike.

Once i get a CPK folder I want to pick up a double lug insingo 31 in s45 or magnacut some day

This is one of my favorite pocket knives ever. I carried one daily for many years. I also gave three more away as gifts to dear friends.

One of those friends was my last boss for the last twenty years of my career. He lost his knife somewhere years ago and regretted that outcome dearly since. I later gave him my personal Benchmite as a retirement gift. That meant more to him than anything else he received.

Now I am the one missing having one. I keep my eye open for a replacement to pop up on the exchange, but that rarely happens. Someday…🙂

It's funny. I used to spend some time over the years with Charles Ochs at shows, mostly just shooting the breeze. And though I was in law enforcement at the time, I never got a "black knife". I did get this though...in forged 52100.
