What kind of folder do you carry?

Slipjoint Sunday, grabbed this 2010 Bladeforums annual "Moose" pattern by Queen Cutlery for the day😊

Question: do you have a regular sized Rosie? I've (lightly) looked at them both, trying to decide which size would fit me better. Leaning towards the smaller, but seems like the XL has the cooler materials and combos lately. How do they compare to the Shaman size wise?

Sorry for the delay, just seeing this. Work and those pesky night shifts get in the way at times haha.

I do not have a regular sized Rosie. I was torn between the two. The thing that screwed me up is how OZ posts their specs. Maybe I’m just a dumbass (probably) but the blade length they list and show, isn’t really close to what their sizing diagram shows. Their blade length is tip to the front of the choil (cutting edge). The only way to get the actual blade length is to subtract the listed handle length from the overall length to get the actual blade length. I’s nawt tooo gewd att matth and definitely not a mathlete lol….. Anywho so blades are bigger than you’d think (that’s what she said).

It is really similar to and reminds me of a Shaman, kind of a Shaman with a Fatter blade. Basically holds and handles pretty similar…. but different lol.

Here’s a video that shows them both and a HUGE difference. It seems when OZ made the XL they literallly just resized the entire thing, when they should have done it more proportionally and changed some specs. here’s a good comparison video.

Another review from Metal Complex, really good one

Some pics I took especially just for you 😉

It is a pretty cool knife and does carry smaller than it is. Closed it doesn’t seem all that big, until it’s opened with that big ol fat bellied blade right at 3.75” long. If I had to recommend which one to get, I’d say both lol. I’m a bad influence and a hoarder though, so probably best not to take my advice lol. It’s not saying much, but the OZ XL is smaller than my Medford Pratorian T was 😊

Great writeup, and I definitely appreciate the pics! That group shot tells me that the XL wouldn't be too big.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply! 😃

The one advantage I had is everyone is saying how huge it was…. HUGE. I had a Medford Praetorian T and that thing is a monster! when the Oz Rosie XL arrived, it wasn’t as big as I thought it was going to be, based on what everyone was saying, so that was a nice surprise. Don’t get me wrong, it is big, and probably huge compared to the regular. I don’t have a regular to compare to so that’s possibly also why it doesn’t seem as big.

Guessing those people don't carry huge folders :D

It reminds me of the Medford TFF in terms of size, maybe a tad smaller profile but I bet they are the similar thickness. Cool piece either way
