What kind of knife do you have in your car?

Not in the trunk - I'm talking about your surroundings - around the steering wheel - between the chairs etc.??

I am considering this - and of course it has to be approved by "she who must be obeyed" for she usually uses the car - while I'm with one of my bikes...

a leatherman supertool in the center console and a 16" bowie under my seat...

My Leatherman SuperTool in the Glove Box, my MicroTech SOCOM in my left pants pocket, and another knife (which I switch off & on with others) in my right pants pocket. Right now it's my Mission MPF-Ti.

Well, even though they are on me, they are in my car! Right

P.S. Soon I will have a custom knife on me and in my car when I'm in it!

For legal purposes, I only carry a CS shovel and a baseball bat. Imagine that a 6" knife is not legal, yet a baseball bat is. heh. The baseball bat is brand new, with the plastic on and everything. That way I should be able to get away with saying "I just bought it" Otherwise, it's my 4" Voyager that I normally carry with me.

Guys - you are not reading my post - this knife has to stay in my car when I (along with the dozen knives I have on me) are out of the car...

Edrozen - bats are nice - but swinging them while seated with a seat belt can prove somewhat difficult...

I keep a Swiss Army knife in my truck console. The model name escapes me. Its the huntsman or hunter or something like that--one of the long handled ones with a picture of a deer on it. I also keep one of those Kabar's with a spoon and fork on it in the console as well. Great for impromptu roadside picnics Behind the seat is a tramotina machete and a belt pack with a leatherman supertool and other edgy tools as well. In the back of the truck is a cold steel shovel and a sandvik hatchet and a "survival kit" with an Ontario fixed blade in it.

so I cannot reply??

I will reply anyway!!!

But when I enter anybody´s else car, the number of knives in that car significantly increases....

I have the usual big swiss army in the glove compartment and a Richartz knife/fork combo knife. But it's the knife for cutting the seat belt, breaking the windshield and self defence beside my right leg that you're interested in, I presume.
I change that one from time to time. Ideally it should be small enough for tactical purposes, large enough for smashing purposes, single edge[which rules out the Polkowskis] and relatively corrosion resistant[it gets wet in Canada] and a lanyard. Also, it can't be seen too easily by passenger or policeman looking in to write a ticket:it should be perfectly legal, but who needs a hassle?
My main knives there have been a nice little Freeman[no skullcrusher], CS Trailmaster[on the big side], Busse Steelheart II,[also a bit big] Wally Hayes custom tanto[this one a simple O1 brute] and, currently, a Lightfoot Predator[although it does have a sharpened top edge].

There is always a Katz BT-10 in the console. If someone steals it I wouldn't be happy but at least it isn't one of my custom knives. Plus living in NC helps, I can legally keep a 45ACP on me, so a knife is a back up tool.

Spyderco Rescue Jr. (orange 98 version) in the center console. Old Buck 112 in the glove compartment.

There's a Livesay Little Pecker hanging from my steering wheel column, and a Leatherman PST in my glove compartment. There's also a Cold Steel shovel under my seat, for digging my car out of snow...

My wifey poo's car has a CRKT Bear Claw hanging on it's steering wheel column, and there's a SAK Champ in the glove compartment.

Now ask if there's any gas in the tanks.

Fairly well equipped SAK in the glove box

Fear of actual break-ins aside, I have regular occasion to use parking garages of the type where the car is parked by an attendant. Unfortunately, on several occasions, various items have been missing from the car such as highway toll tokens, loose change, sunglasses, etc. As a result, I don't leave anything of real value in the car.

The current selection consists of a CS Bushman in the passenger side seat back pocket (accessible from front or back seats), a cheapo FB in the glove box, and a Tool Logic Credit Card Companion in the center console. Naturally, I'd be pissed if any were taken but, at least, there would be no significant financial loss.
