I'm looking for a blade that is easy to carry (not way too heavy), long length of over 4 inches (preferably closer to 6), easy to open, and inexpensive. I am hoping to spend less than $60 on this knife. I live in a place with close to no knife laws and restrictions. (only school zones)

I'd say a 6 inch ti-lite with Zytel handle. Decent steel I suppose, looks cool as can be. Sharp as hell.

A folder with a 6" blade? You've set a high standard there Mike!

I know there out there, but I can;t remember seeing one and, for me, it's a tad long. The first thing that comes to mind for me is the Benchmade Rukus and Skirmish, both with 4-3/8" (approx) blades, BUT!: They're way over your price budget.

A Cold Steel XL Voyager meets your parameters.

5" blade
Not too heavy
Can be purchased for ~$60 online

Thats a big folder you are requesting, you may be better off carrying a fixed blade. RC 4 and RC 6 from rat cutlery come to mind. Also Queen cutlery makes some very nice fixed blades in d2 for around $60. They also make a folding hunter that is either right at or just over 4".

Fighting off dragons? what are you using it for? you said you wanted something easy to carry, and then requested a massive knife. Just making sure you realize how big a 6 inch folder really is.

may i recommend a folding saw?

I seriously wanted to refrain from addressing this post as in my opinion it is unreasonable...

I would like to WELCOME go Mike to the forums! I will say, Mike , in my opoinion there is no quality folder that meets your criteria. These forums represent approx. 2% of the knife using population. That said, you could consider the members, myself included, anal retentive. I recommend you bring the blade length down a bit, and your price up a bit. Take a look at the Benchmade 710 and/or the Spyderco Military. Trust me, you will be delighted with your experience with either of these blades.

Just because the law doesn't restrict the blade length of a knife doesn't mean you need the biggest knife you can find. A six inch folder will have very limited use, it's just too big for a lot of things you need a folder for; and, being a folder, not safe enough for what you'd need a fixed blade of that size for.

You know better than we do what you really need, but look at folders in the three ad a half to four inch range, many more choices and much more useful.

And what about a CS Vaquero Grande? The official price is 130$, but it seems it can be fund for half the price (here, but is it a realiable site?). Though i think like the others: for this lenght, better take a fixed, especially if there is no restriction or law where you live.

Spyderco Endura 4 meets your weight, width, price, but not size limit. It is just under 4 inches.

Carrying a 6in folder is plain crazy (my opinion here folks). I used to sell the 6in ti lite. heavy, need 2 hands to get a good grip on it, and very unbalanced. I don't know what you need a 6in folder for, but you must work in very extreme environments, or its your last resort when playing with grizzly bears. Most 6in folders will not meet your weight or price requirements, and they will be very awkward to wear in your pocket. Plus, if it even is legal, pulling it out in public will either make someone scream, or call the cops.

My suggestion, either go with a fixed blade, or go with a 4 inch blade.

Good Luck

If you must have a 6 inch folder, Cold steel has some offerings. But like most people here i would recomend you bring the size down, to something like a spyderco endura or a benchmade griptillian. Or you get a fixed blade if you have your heart set on that blade length. What will you be using the knife for? Answering that question will make it much easier for us to help you.

Ah, I see what you all mean about a 6 inch folder. Are there 5 inch folders that aren't too expensive? 4-5 inches, that are around 50-60 dollars?

EDIT: I want a knife that can be used for many tasks, not just self defense purposes, and I have big hands, so I need a handle around 5-6 inches long to hold comfortably.

Now what I think I am looking for is something between 4 and 5 inches of a blade, and 9-10 inches overall, still for under 60 dollars.

Sounds like a Kershaw Junk Yard Dog II, beautiful and large fast folder
See this Thread here for some more info and photos,
and I think there is one up forsale in bladeforums right now too!

Maybe he is referring to overall length rather than blade length. Can we get some clarification from go mike about his actual intent?
