What kind of knife is for me?

I would recommend either a Spyderco Endura or a Spyderco Military. The Military should be able to accommodate the largest of hands, but the Endura is no slouch either.

How about a Byrd Cara-Cara, under $25, 3.88" blade and 4.75" handle? You could add a ring, lanyard or kubotan to the lanyard hole, maybe give you a better feeling of security when holding onto it with your big mitts? :-P

Otherwise, I guess the Cold Steel products mentioned here would suit most of your requirements. The Spyderco Military, as mentioned, has a very large handle, 5.5" I believe, but you would have to shop around for a deal even close to $100. This is a very nice knife, but I don't know where you stand on the price issue.

Like the others I would go with a fixed blade if they are not a problem where you live. You can get better quality for a lower price, and a blade that is safer to handle.

Spyderco Endura sounds like a possibility: 4 inch blade, easy to open and you can get it in a lightweight FRN handled version or an all stainless heavyweight model. Someone suggested the Military, but you can't get one for less that $60 like go mike wants. You can find Enduras for less than $60 from almost any dealer.

CS Pocket Bushman only has a 4" cutting edge but the handle is quite long and plenty to hold onto. Its also only around $20.

I like big knives as a primary EDC, and the Endura is PLENTY of knife for me. You can nail one on Ebay on your predetermined budget. Think about how you use it. I carry the Endura currently, but I still carry a smaller folder (just shy of 3 inch thin blade) so I can cover the entire spectrum of needs. Too much blade can get in the way sometimes. This is why knives are made in all sizes.

No, but you can find the Military for $75 lightly used on BST reasonably commonly.

+ 1 on the endura, I have the delica, and its great; so seeing as the endura is a bigger delica it should work for you.

Very affordable and a good strong roughly 5" blade is offered by the Opinel #12. A bargain. I used it as a chef knife on holiday. I do think it's too big for EDC, but man it's a beast of a knife!

Here is a short youtube clip that shows it, and you notice that it's pretty big indeed.

Here is a pic:

I would have said Opinel too if it wasn't for the fact that most are nailed in awfully tight round the pivot.

> I found two knives that fit into what I want, the Boker Urban Tank, and the Boker Power Trooper. Does anyone have reviews on these blades?

Of the two, the Power Trooper seems best as it has a grippy G10 handle and because of that, it's also lighter than the other one (but still pretty heavy).
In general, Boker Magnum knives are reasonably ok made in Taiwan products. It is possible that the liner lock doesn't work too well (I had that on one of my 2 magnums), but otherwise not spectacular but you could live with it.
At the price, I would still go for the big Opinel #12 though!
And if you are ok with spending a bit more, the Boker Plus series (a pretty good series, also made in Taiwan, but on a higher quality level than Magnum) includes the M-type which is a very portable (as it's thin) sturdy framelock folder that will be big enough for most users. Look here and check prices from ebay dealers, where Bokers tend to be quite a bit cheaper.

Hey guys, thanks for your input. Just bought a Buck 174 from Dunhams for about 25 dollars. Smaller blade than I had wanted, but for now, it will work great.
