What kind of wood do you like for your High End Knives?

Gday m8, I don't keep the website up as it would never end.

I wish you could keep it more up to date. I really dislike buying figured wood without seeing it first. One of the many good things about dealing with Mark is the pictures he posts of each piece of wood.

A person should buy when and where it's comfortable where and when they find product suitable for them. Although, I've retired I still have a lot of projects going on. I'm not into chasing the $$ anymore and have no intention of posting a thousand photos of wood on my website having to keep up with it and change it daily. I "retired" last year and moved to north Georgia near the family. My shop and warehouse buildings are still in Oregon. Life has more to offer these days like grand children and travel. I sell what I like when I like. Just shipped off 100 amboyna burl blocks to Europe and have a large custom order to process for these folks when I return to the shop in March. They are the only folks I do custom acrylic infusion (stabilizing) for. Last trip to the shop I prepared and shipped a 1400 pound pallet of guitar wood to a long time client in Europe. One of two pallets. I spent two months working at the shop and visiting with knife makers, luthiers, wood turners sets at the shop...all by appointment. My customers, friends and long time clients know they can make custom requests and get personal photos to choose from. This includes luthiers, wood turners, pen makers, furniture makers, etc., etc. If you have a project knife and are looking for options or a special piece you are certainly welcome to inquire and we'll sort it out. When I'm at the shop I do custom size stabilized pieces and matched sets for pistol grips and knives on request. I also will make stabilized sword sheaths and sheath-handle combinations on request. It works for me.

I have followed this forum for years because I love beautiful knives and am a collector of daggers...not because I want to sell wood. I think I have something to offer this forum (from time to time) and be of some help with some wood conundrums other than selling wood. Most knife makers are great metal workers, but not so experienced with wood i.e., it's mechanical and physical properties.
