What knife company does the best serrations?

The serrations on my Victorinox OH Trekker are pretty shallow bread knife type things and slice paper well. Although they work great for most things, they aren't agressive enough for those times when you really need serrations.

Like alot of the other members here I don't like serrations that much, but I do find the CRKT Veff and the KaBar styles to work alright. If I think I'm going to need serrations these would be my first choice.

If you think there is no such things as big serrations, try cutting a rope with a saw.

I find that course serrations tend to get caught and snag.

Saw teeth are not serrations.

if your knife is sharp, coarse or not, they will not snag on rope- they are designed for cutting rope and other fibrous materials.

I like Spyderco serrations. Just cause they are large doesn't mean that they rip. Tonight I sliced 3 large tomatoes with my Delica 4 SE, no ripping just nice slicing. Works great.

I like the KaBar serrations they are pretty interesting and as always I like the Spyderco ones myself.

Myerchin, www.myerchin.com, makes an excellent serration IMHO. Their rigging knives (made for sailing, line handling, etc.) are designed to cut fiberous line and they do it very well. I carry the Safety/Dive knife whenever I am working offshore.

Spyderco then Benchmade

Benchmade serrations are kindof small

Any FULLY-serrated blade from Spyderco has done the job for me. (my first production blades were 50/50 Spydercos - waste of time.)

Victorinox has the best since they are where you need them on a knife. At the tip of the blade.

Cold Steel imo has the worst. I've had several but the small teeth easily breaks of leaving a ragged edge. Most knives have come back like this after only one camp trip. Maybe I'm just a bad cutter and I twist the knife to much while cutting...

I generally like Spyderco serrations the best. I really like the fully-serrated Delica 4 and the 50/50 Endura 4.

I also like Benchmade's serrations, but only on blades 3.5" and longer. Also, one criticism I have of BM is often they grind off too much steel from the blade for their serrations.

I also think Kershaw's scalloped pattern is good. Also, the scalloped pattern on the Ka-Bar combat knives is excellent.
