For me, right now, it's Cold Steel, for the following reasons:

- AUS8 models that have been phased out are now DIRT CHEAP. Large Polished Espada? $130. Talwar? $40. XL Voyagers? $40-50.
- New finishes on updated models. Stonewashed Spartans and Rajahs in upgraded steel! No more bead-blasted rust monsters!
- BD1/XHP models of knives I already know and love. Counterpoint 1, 4" Ti-Lite, 6" Holdout, Pocket Bushman in BD1 instead of crappy (Kruppy?) 4116...

Seriously, just $40 for this. The price of a Tenacious.

I've already picked up a Large Espada, and I'll be picking up a G10 DLC XHP Espada so I can do a blade swap and have a Tuxedo XHP DLC Polished Espada. Before that (because the G10 DLC XHPs aren't going away anytime soon) I'll be picking up a Talwar in AUS8, maybe a XL Tanto Voyager (basically a folding Kobun), and I have the BD1 Counter Point 1 on my Amazon wish list as I watch for the price to drop - along with the XHP Ti-Lite and the 6" Holdout.

And then there's the 4-Max. Lord help me.

Demko: 4-year waiting list for a $900 knife, or buy it in G10 with all the same functional features for $350.

I used to think Spyderco and ZT might as well just have direct access to my bank account, but Cold Steel is sucking up all my fun money at an unprecedented pace. The worst part? I don't even have the money! I'm planning on buying all this stuff, with absolute conviction and sincerity. Oye. Someone buy my knives so I can buy more knives kthx.

Mine has to be Reate.

Not just because they keep getting more expensive (which realistically I'm okay with given the quality of the product), but each model they come out with seems to keep appealing to me. Essentially the Hills and the original District 9 are the only models I don't actively want. Their recent collaborations with knife designers haven't done wonders for my bank account (I have a Mah designed Remedy, Faisal Yamin designed Valkyrie I & II) and it's only getting worse considering I still want a Horizon D, District 9 Plus, and the new model (Torrent) at some point. May also want to check out the Begg Steelcraft Kwaiken from them, as well as the new Mah Tempest.

This is basically why they've become my most desired brand right now:

1. All of their knives are on the larger side, as I prefer
2. They all flip excellently
3. The fit and finish is impeccable
4. None of the designs are boring or too conventional

Kizer and ZT have gotten the lion's share of my knife budget recently. Of my last 5 knife purchases, 2 have been ZTs (0770CF and 0450) and 3 have been Kizers (Ki3404A3, Tomcat Splinter and Laconico Gemini).

Spyderco because I own so many of their models. Benchmade because each model costs so damn much.

Oh, sir, the Sun Tzu Kwaiken will likely be the first and only Reaté knife I purchase. I think it might be my soul blade. Titanium steel-insert-framelock Double-row-ceramic-bearing Flipper with easily-maintained yet high-performance steel with a striking appearance and a blade shape that is both utilitarian and intimidating, yet well-sized with a 4" blade and incredibly light for what it is? I'll be getting one of those. I couldn't justify carrying a $450 CF-Inlaid Sebenza, but I'm pretty sure I'll justify the Kwaiken to myself without issue.

Seriously, that's the only knife review by Jim Skelton I could sit all the way through. I find him grating 99% of the time, but the Kwaiken on the screen really helped make him tolerable.

How's that Splinter? I've seen some gripes about sharp edges where there shouldn't be sharp edges.

None at the moment, but when I was buying to many it was Busse, CRK, and Spyderco.

The lockbar cutout leaves a sharp edge when the knife is locked up, but it's not sharp enough to cut anyone . . . or at least not that I've heard so far. Wouldn't take much to round off the edge enough to make the problem go away. I read a post where someone said they took an emery board to it and fixed it about 5 minutes. It doesn't bother me enough to do that. But if I get to the point of taking it apart, I just might.

Besides customs, after looking over my accumulation I would have to say CKF. I love the asymmetric series, and with s90v, perfect fit and function, and great blade length to handle ratio, what's not to love?

My collection is primarily KAI/ZT and Spyderco products, but I gotta say, your enthusiasm in the original post was infectious. I do want that 4-Max myself.

Ugh......it hurts even more putting it in writing, but here goes!!!
