I figure that by now, most have opened their presents. This is always a good excuse to get out the old knife and put it to good use in front of the home crowd. I used the part serrated Benchmade Ascent that resides in the chest beside my recliner. I usually bring out something fancier for the holiday, but I went with what was handiest this year. It served well for opening up those mailed parcels. The serrations work well on packing tape and on ribbons. It also came in handy for the delicate task of seperating the tape from the wrapping paper without damaging the paper so that it can be re-used next year. My wife recycles the big pieces to be made into little ones at a later date;) What did you all use?

I ripped mine open, but when I had to cut a card stuck to the front of one with legions of selotape, I reached for 'Gwaith' my large classic MM Sebenza (6-50). The blade is covered with sticky parcel tape rubbish from work, but it still cut like a straight razor!

Happyness is a Benza...:D

I used my SOG Access Card that I got for a present. And trust me I love that knife. Recommended to any knife lover

A Benchmade 720 SBT. It worked for everything except for my new wood inlaid Sebenza. I acquired it in a trade a week ago, had my wife wrap it up, then let her give it to me. To open that one, I had everyone take three steps away from me, turn down the TV, and arrange the lighting so as to better appreciate it's aura.  geegee

I used my Benchmade 812, my brother in-law was using his Leatherman Wave. Between the two of us, we got everyone taken care of!!

I used my Buck Prince. It worked great for everything, including separating a lot of toys from the packaging.

I used one of those (fairly new style) Swiss Army knives that have the oval-shaped one-hand-opening holds in the blade. The blade style is kind strange...serrated for the last 2/3 of the blade, with a bevel just on one side. The blade (and large flat-headed screwdriver) locks open.

Crappy pic that I just took (with too little light) posted below.

P.S. - The serrations are really sharp. I touched up the edge a couple of days ago with a sharpmaker. About 20 minutes ago I was cutting the foil wrap on a bottle of raspberry/chipotle pepper sauce. I went to peel off the foil after putting a slice in it while at the same time still hanging onto the knife. It slid down my hand and the serrated part **lightly** grazed against the skin between thumb and index finger. Made a rather smart little cut! :-)

Nothing special, I just used my everday carry knife, a PJ Tomes gents folder with pearl scales and 3 inch flatground S90V blade. :)

My EDC, Larry Chew 3.5 covert. Made short work of all the wrapping paper and loose ends.

Happy Holidays
Jeff

Just my normal EDC, a SOG X-Ray Vision....

I gave my dad a Buck 110...came razor sharp, sharper than any of my SOGs have come (and his is a $30 knife, wtf), so he used that the rest of the time to open presents:)
I'm sending my Tomcat and X-Ray to SOG to be sharpened soon, so they better come back really sharp;)

I used my new 2 High Mix Small Sebenza. Made good work of the wrapping paper and boxes. The blade is all covered in tape now so a good cleaning is a must.
Merry Christmas,
Matt

I think you might be onto something! :D I just used my Spyderco Navigator for package opening duties. I'm still trying to decide if I want to use my new Benchmade 770 Prototype as an EDC.
