What knife do you have that had the worst factory edge?

My Benchmades were pretty dull when new. Even when I sent it in to Cust Serv for sharpening, it came back pretty dull. Disappointing.
My Spiders have been sharp, as were my Emersons.

Back in the early 80's, got a Shcrade LB7 that the grinds didn't even meet, returned it and got one that was just as bad, returned that one and got a Buck 110.

My sharpest and dullest knives have all been purchased used - BK-16 and BM 940 would tear paper; convexed 0551 would whittle hair.
As far as factory stuff, either my BM WARN Barrage, RMD, or War Dog. None was terrible; while the busse-kin are understandable due to their thickness and purpose, and they took a great edge when I gave it to 'em. The trouble with the Barrage was getting that D2 to do any better. It probably needed to be reprofiled, but I don't have a good way to measure it.
At the time, even the WorkSharp had trouble improving it much. I've traded it away now.

Cold Steel machete was the worst as it came with a wavy asymmetrical grind and the bevels didn't come close to meeting. As far as knives go it was the most everything I even owned from Gerber or CRKT.

Mission Knives titanium tanto folder, it came with the serrations done but the rest of the blade edge hadn't been finished.

I love a lot of Benchmade products, but I've had multiple arrive to dull to slice paper cleanly. A 710 and a 940 jump to mind, but there have been others.

I bought a small pile of <$10 SRM/Bee/Enlan folders to see what they're really about, and every one I've played with was sharp as heck. Seems wrong somehow.

I've only had one gerber, a paraframe 2 and i remember it bein sharp.
The dullest knife I got was probly my SOG twitch II or my Tops ALRT Neck knife. My woodsplitting maul was sharper than that lol.

For me it was a Queen #19 Trapper. The blade were incredibly obtuse as well as incredibly dull. They sharpened up nicely though, and now it's one of my favorite traditional EDC knives.

Benchmade, Benchmade and Benchmades..... and Yes, I have some awesome ones but my lord.......

On the other hand, EVERY Spyderco has come damn near scary sharp.

CRKT First Strike. Got one when it first came out and I am pretty sure it was blunt. Took awhile on a stone to get it sharp.

I have a few really cheap blades from various companies that I picked up mainly cause I liked the looks that came really dull. That said, they were a)cheap, and b)not bought with the intention of carrying or using them, so I wasn't pissed or anything. Smith & Wesson knives are hit or miss on sharpness, I've had a couple that were hair shaving sharp out of the box, and a couple that could barely tear paper. Not that I expect great knives out of them or anything, but when the first one of theirs I got was very sharp, and the second was very...not sharp, it was a tad disappointing.

My 710 and 806 Benchmades were pretty dull, the 710 almost shamefully so. Regardless, they both take a beautiful edge (the 806 especially) and hold it admirably.

Now if we want to talk sharpest factory edges...! In my experience, consistently, Kershaw has completely dominated every other knife manufacturer I've come across, not only for impossibly sharp edges, but also even bevels.

Böker plus titan drop point. Probably 55-60 degree edge and seemed to have been blunted in sharpening. Reprofiled the edge to abkut 15-17 degrees and it was gtg and irresponsibly sharp :)

Benchmade 710. Bought TWO of them and both had just awful blades. Sold both immediately as I couldn't stand other aspects as well.

The Spyderco Manix 2 XL that I just got. I was a little disappointed but with some work on the Sharpmaker, I was shaving hair off my lower legs in no time.

For me it was a Queen Trapper. The spey blade looked like it had been hit with the grinder perpendicular to the edge. Took alot of time and sandpaper to get that D2 sharp.

I bought 4 CRKT Hammind ABC's yeats ago, they all came form SMKW in the same box.
2 were sharp as sharp can be
2 were butter knife dull.
WHo knows why?
2 dull sharpened fine and i like those knives
