What knife do you regret selling?

I have never sold a knife. I have given a few away. Recently I've given a couple of less used Benchmades to my two oldest sons and I don't regret either one. They were so happy and I was more than happy to give them knives I know are good and won't fail.

My friend of many years made a statement one day that I have always remembered, "I don't sell guns, I just buy them" I think the same could apply to knives. You might have lost interest in a knife currently, but who's to say you won't find a new appreciation for it in the future.

Probably two Randall knives back in the early 90's a model 14 and an 18 for about 350.00 a piece. I looked around for another 14 and Daaaumm. Live and learn.

Never sold a knife, I’ve given a dozen or so away. Never regretted a single one of those.
+1 - Exactly what I was about to post. Those I’ve gifted were of greater benefit to the recipients than I would’ve gained by selling them. I see it as an opportunity to “seed” the hobby in others and in a very small way try to keep our pastime alive.

Not sold, but ... our house burned and I lost every knife I owned except the one in my pocket. The one that hurt the most was a Kuzan Oda tanto. When I decided I'd try to replace it I found out that he had moved to Japan and only makes high-quality katanas now. Fantastic blade with an honest to goodness haemon, minimized tsuba so it carried flat and close to the body, and some kind of rubber-like handle material that was grippy even with blood on it. I used it occasionally and carried it often for about 4 years, and although it's hard to believe I never had to so much as touch the edge, it was still razor sharp when it burned up. (To be fair, I'm pretty easy on a knife, especially one like that.)

That's probably as close to the mythical Japanese katana as I'll ever get.

I have only sold one and don’t regret it. I need to sell more but is a hassle and I am lazy. I just keep buying more.

Have given many away to friends and family though.

One good thing about accumulating knives is they don’t take up much space.

Do NOT fall under the influence of drugs. The things you do to acquire more drugs may be more than you can live with

Well luckily I don't do drugs.

Unluckily, The things I do to acquire more knives are getting dangerously close to be more than I can live with...

Stag tony Bose back pocket he passed the day after I sold it. Pretty much impossible to replace now without paying out the wazoo.

I almost sold a Microtech LUDT Stormtrooper and a Protech Large Don 1926.

Was about to sell them along with a few other I-can-never-see-myself-using-them pieces, but was a bit too busy with life and basically forgot to put them up for sale.

Revisited them almost one year later, only to realize how nice they actually are, and how dumb I was trying to let them go.

Green/CF "MUDD" in Elmax & my 1st Olamic 24/7 are the only 2 that come to mind, but I really needed the funds at the time.

I wouldn’t mind having my dual action microtech lightfoot LCC model back. Back when autos weren’t legal where I live I let that go during a collection purge. Now that they’re lega to carry I’m kicking myself! But knives are a zero sum hobby for me now so there’s always going to be stuff I would love back but probably went to buy something I like even more!

Wow, there were so many!

2 Socom Elites from when Microtech was in Bradford PA
10-12 of the first GECs All the cigar patterns, stockman, jack, etc.
Alias I and II
Stryker and Dark Star
Queen and S&M whittlers
CPM D2 Military and PM
5-6 CRK one piece knives
"Regular" Sebenzas
Japanese Al Mars
Brisa Pilli

The GECs probably bother me the most. Especially the Pony Jack and the elephant toenails

Stuff I don't regret selling

about a dozen Busses
ESEE 5 and 6
Benchmade Bushcrafter

I didn’t sell it but returned it. It was a Large Starbenza 21 and till this day the smoothest CRK I’ve ever handled out of the box. It haunts me. I paid $475 for it in 2016 and returned it because I wanted an Insingo blade. Well, I got my insingo in the KF CF 21 and I wish I kept the Starbenza in hindsight 🥹

So many 😜
