What knife does/did your mom carry?

What knife did my mum carry? None that I am aware of. Not even when camping, or on a big game hunt out of state with her second hubby.
(I believe he had a Western "Black Beauty" F66 when afield. I'm not sure what - if anything - was in his pocket when he was working/at home.)

My (maternal) grand mother had a Old Hickory or Russell Green River 3.5 inch clip point paring knife on her most days. (she was a cook at several restaurants/cafe's and truck stops, from the 1950's (maybe earlier) till she passed in 1999.
(I'm told she opened her own café in 1994, and worked it until her last day.)

My (maternal) great grand mother carried a 7 inch (?) (might have been a 10 inch), Old Hickory (I remember the "forging" marks on the blade) butcher knife in a home made canvas or burlap sheath under her apron. (yes, she did have a strip of leather sewn in on the edge side, so as not to cut the thread.)

My (maternal) great-great grandmother carried a 12 or 14 inch Old Hickory butcher knife in a leather sheath that maternal great-great grandfather (her hubby) made for her (or maybe it was her daddy?) under her apron. I think she may have kept a Old Hickory or Russell Green River 3.5 inch paring knife in her purse, along with her (loaded) nickel plated Iver Johnson .38 S&W break-top revolver that Great-Great Grandpa (her hubby) gave her from their store's inventory for a wedding present, roughly 30 ~ 40 years before I arrived, as well.
I never met her mum, or grand mum, so I don't know what (if anything) they carried. Taking into consideration at least one of them was of the Blackfoot(?) tribe, and both hunted, I'm pretty sure they carried a knife of some sort.

I don't remember my paternal grand mother, or great grand mother (the only ones still here when I arrived. I think I was 8 or 9 when paternal great grandmother passed. I was 17 or 18 when paternal grandmother passed.) carrying a knife outside the kitchen or garden.

What...no "wretched, spiteful straight-razor totin' women"? With all due respect to Elvis, Tony Joe White's original version was the best. For you youngsters google 'Polk Salad Annie' to hear some good ol' southern blues. "Lawd have mercy, pick me a mess of it" !

My mom carries a guardian tactical utx-85? I believe that’s the model but I forget....
She likes the convenience of an OTF but found the microtechs a little hard to
Actuate, so switch on the guardian tactical with the ceramic bearings is much more
Her jam.
She hardly uses it though.... she was kinda forced into having a knife on her because I got
Tired of seeing her use pens to open boxes :)

Dan, my Mom has been gone for 8 years now so I can’t ask her. As a kid I remember her having some really tiny knife, about the size of a Victorinox Classic. If I remember correctly it had 2 blades. I will say this about her though, she could wield a paring knife in the kitchen like nobody I’ve ever seen. Everything was peeled with that knife and I never saw her cut herself...ever.
Jim you jogged a memory of my mother, she constantly ran her finger down the edge of any knife and straight faced say she could ride to China on it due to it being dull...until she got the BAHCO, she sliced her finger right open with it. I think it may have been the main reason she carried it from them on.

Mom didn't carry a knife - as far as I knew.
She did wield a nasty knuckle though & used it all the time @ church.
She & dad sat in the pew behind us kids & woe (& a sharp rap to the skull) unto anyone that didn't behave.

My wife carries a 3.5" no-name Chinese made POS. I can always tell when she used it because she comes up to me to fold it - she won't take the time to learn how the lock works.
Personally - I think it more because 40 years ago when we were dating, I gave her my Uncle Henry (4" folder) to use to slice up a watermelon. I explained how to manipulate the lock - which she did - then promptly closed the blade on her finger.
