What knife for a vacation in New York City ?

With all of the security and such since 9/11 no one is doing anything above pickpocketing (if even that) in most parts of NYC that a tourist might go to; the whole SWAT-style police on streetcorners with MP-5's or M-4's seems to dissuade crime, I have no idea why though....:D
I don't think you'd be able to get one of the plastic knives through, some of the detectors scan for density instead of metal alone. Besides, if you're caught with a polymer dagger it won't look good for you legally. Pack a flashlight or kubaton if you're really dedicated to a SD device.

A bit off topic, but what are the fixed blade laws for NYC? Would an Emerson LaGriffe be a no-go?
 
The Lagriffe may be construed as a 'dangerous weapon' since it doesn't look like a standard utility knife.

I'm back from my vacations and cannot wait for the next trip to NYC : it truly is a wonderful city!!!
I had no problem with my small Vic folder, even in museums.
Great sights, great museums, great food, great people : overall, Great Place!!
