What knife for desert island survival?

Longbow said it, Doc said it, and others did too.
In general, a good sized hefty blade/machete and a good quality SAK/multitool.

Whether your choice is Kukri and a Leatherman, or Machete and SAK, it's pretty much the idea that you will want a way to do the Heavy Lifting and then also the more intricate slicing and detail work.

I find that this is my choice for just about any scenario, Big chopper plus a Multi-tool or SAK. A good combo that works many places and gives the widest amount of possible usage.

"1. Leatherman Core for the folder.

2. Ontario 18” machete for the fixed.

3. No."

I agree 100% If it has to be a true folding knife and not a multi-tool, I would take a Manix. It is a great folder by any standard. The only problem is, I might want a few tools to keep it sharp and tight. Some of the screws tend to loosen on Spydercos so I would want something so it doesn't get too loose on me.
