Bladeforums... seriously though, aside from the SAK's as a kid - I bought myself a CRKT Tighe designed folder at a gun show my Sophmore year in college and when I lost it I came to the internets to help my find a new knife.. then this place happened.
Ive always had a obcession with knives, but it was repressed for a long time, until i purchased an ESEE Izula-II when they first came out, Now i own the ESEE Collection 5-Styles of the HEST (RAT, ESEE, OKC, 2.0/RF, II) several more from DPX, Kbar, Becker, OKC, Marbles, Cold Steel, Kershaw, leatherman, and many many more
Black KA-BAR 7" 1212. Had a buddy who owned one, and filled me in on the history of the knife, how solid/reliable they were, so got one for myself, and my words do it no justice. I'd trust my life to it.
I've been hooked on knives since I was a kid. Got my first one at some roadside shack in Gatlinburg when I was about 7. I've carried one ever since, to the point I damn near have an anxiety attack if I don't have some sort of blade handy.
I'd have to say my friends' old CS Trailmaster in Carbon IV, which I traded away. (I regret doing that everyday, but I got a good knife I still own in return) I also had a CS Trailmaster in San Mai III that got stolen from me years back. I've been wanting to own a trailmaster again ever since... :Grumpy:
When I was thirteen, nearly 25 years ago, I begged and pleaded for a butterfly knife. It was a four inch Parker Cutlerly with curved stainless handles, and a blade etch if an eagle with a banner that reads "Gypsy."
I still have the knife and a scar on my middle finger that I got when I cut myself within an hour of getting the knife.
you know... I've thought about why I like knives so much for a long time, yet I still haven't come to a conclusion yet. I used to be big into swords and big blades, always saying how small blades were useless and wimpy. It seemed the more and more i handled knives, the more i appreciated them and the ball just started rolling from there. Now that i think about it, I was always playing with knives as a kid(whittling and stuff). I just love knives. there is so much science that can be applied to it. more than meets the eye, i guess.
My dad was a knife guy of sorts, being a working stiff and in the military so I got it honest. He gave me an old Camillus pilot's knife and I recall it pretty much going downhill from there.
My story would be a tad more folksy. I have always enjoyed all tools, but never really carried pocket knives on a regular basis other than my multi tool that had a blade. This is TI Charge from Leatherman, that my dad got me. Well, I was 40 yrs. old at the time, and I went to an estate sale in Beverly Hills, and bought a vintage tool box. In it was a Queen City (in cursive writing) Jack knife like a grandpa would have. The tool box was an olive drab metal Union Tool box. I started searching on Google for Queen City Jack Knife, and I found Blade Forums. I now have more knives than my city could use in a life time, and found many friends who share similar values to me. So, I even though I have always loved knives, I really did not seek them out til I found that one, and then found a Case CV 6244 in an antique shop not soon after. I have that one in my back pocket now. I gave the Queen City knife to my dad for Father's Day, and it made my dad so happy, and my older brother so jealous, that it just increased my love for knives.
