I have a friend who is not really into knives at least not yet anyway. He isnt really a tactical type of guy either but likes fishing and hiking. He doesnt have a carry knife other than a cheapo victorinox classic knock off on his keyring. I was thinking something more in the line of a traditional wooden handled slip joint folder. I only have $25 max to spend. What do you suggest?

SAK, (Swiss Army Knife) Classic, they can keep it on a key ring and it's a pretty handy little knife.

A real Swiss Army Knife from either Victorinox or Wenger. Lots of model choices in that price range, depending on your friend's interests.

if he likes fishing and hiking, perhaps consider a fixed blade.

a Mora clipper 860 should do the trick for a non knife guy.

if your set on a folder, either a SAK or an Opinel would be an awesome gift.

A real Victorinox knife, the Tinker is good, or the Spartan if he drinks wine. They are the same knife except that the Tinker has a Phillips driver in place of the corkscrew.

case sodbuster jr. or kershaw leek/skyline or buck vantage

where can you get a skyline or leek for $25 or less????????????????????????????

x10 on the SAK's...... if hes not a 'knife guy' he'll surely use that, especially something in the key ring size, he'll soon ditch his knockoff

RAT 1 folder is a good bet--it's no-nonsense and simple, strong, looks cool, and works well. All good combos for a non-knife guy. :)

A gold membership at Bladeforums. He'll be a knife guy in no time.
Good idea there:D, though I think they are $30.
I would go with an Opinel if he likes wooden handles, otherwise I Victorinox Tinker, Cadet, or Soldier would make me happy.

Victorinox Hiker, under $20 with shipping included from Ebay.
