What knife to get a non knife guy under $25?

Some wood handled slippies from Buck. They are made in China, I believe but have been noted to be of surprisingly good quality.

and check out Rough Rider knives, pretty good for the price.

How about a Buck 305 Lancer? $25 at New Graham:

where can you get a skyline or leek for $25 or less????????????????????????????

I believe yourcornerstore.com has them for under $25, but then there is shipping. So if $25 is an absolute max, I guess the SAK is your best bet. If you can squeeze out a little more, definitely the Skyline or better yet, the Spyderco Tenacious (although with shipping and all you're gonna be looking at around $40).

Another vote for a sak. A real sak.

Since he's apparently attached to a knock off of a sak classic, why not get him a real Victorinox classic, and let him experiance the quality of the real thing. It will be self apparent, and maybe he'll be more inclined to explore the world of better quality knives once the difference is made clear to him. Also stay with a keychain size knife, since that is what is working for him. My experiance with non knife people is, they don't like a larger knife. Get him something he will really carry and use.

Id have to agree with the Rat1 Folder, great warranty, works well, takes a beating, looks good, and carries well. What more could you want?

SAK of various flavors, as already mentioned are always a sure bet. Check out the different tools to see which combo works best for his day 2 day, and youre good to go.

A trip to your local WallyWorld or, if you have one, an Academy Sports chain - maybe a 'Dick's' - will land you a Victorinox Tinker/Delux Tinker For your budget - or, skip the Happy Meal lunch - add that to your $25 stash. Then you could afford a really fine knife - one he won't outgrow for some time - a Buck 110 Folding Hunter ($27 @ W-W!). Made in ID, USA - except for the sheath. Great bargain.

Stainz

PS Target stores usually have low price Vic SAK's, too.

I have a friend who is not really into knives at least not yet anyway. He isnt really a tactical type of guy either but likes fishing and hiking. He doesnt have a carry knife other than a cheapo victorinox classic knock off on his keyring. I was thinking something more in the line of a traditional wooden handled slip joint folder. I only have $25 max to spend. What do you suggest?

Try a Spyderco Tenacious

I recommend you spend a few dollars of that money getting something engraved on the blade. Something like "Happy Birthday Max", or "To Max, a good friend" or whatever is appropriate. It makes the gift much more personal.

Of course, if your friend is not called Max then you might have to spend some of the money on changing their name by deed poll... heh.

Hello! everyone from a Newguy

I been around here lurkin for about 6 months but I've been collecting knives for around 7yrs and learn about the metals that make the great knifes and the stuff that makes so so knifes, also learning about propane forges as I'll be building one in the next few months.
I'm almost 50 now and retired from a severe neck injury so I'll be making a 20 ton Press too, that I saw on here & others sites.
I collect some expensive knives that are still in the original boxes that they came in(So Piss on the Guy) in an early post that said this just Pissed Him Off, he was a jerk anyway.
I also have some less expensive ones that I carry but when I want to Chop things up on my 10 acres I go.
Here & I bought these 2 knifes for less than $10 each.

First Knife is 11-1/2" OA with a 7" Blade

Second Knife is 19-1/2" OA with a 14" Blade
