What knife tunred you into a collector

While hacking through a whitetail breast bone I ate up a blade I thought was suppose to be "good". It did say Realtree or Bone Collector on it, so it had to be top of the line!!! :(

I explained my story to a guy that directed me to Knives of Alaska and their D2 steel. After that I was hooked!!!

i have to say it was this one

Emerson CQC Mini 15. The quality blew me away, and I never knew how sharp a knife could be till that one.

Trying to hunt down an orange Kershaw Tyrade two years too late was definitely the hook for me. I ended up with 8 other orange Kershaws before i finally found the thing, but I still consider it the one that started it all.

Kershaw Blur got me started. It's morphed into ZT 0350s now even though there are still many of the Blurs I "need" for my collection. :)

Benchmade Mini Griptilian.

Different colors, different blade types, different steels, axis lock, accessible price...

Now Ive got 8... as best I can remember.

Went to a work related meeting 4 years back and won a door prize piece of junk m-tech. After using it for a year and re-engineering it three seperate times i started buying Kershaws and Spydies. I'm more of a peanut/toothpick/pen knife guy though.

Still got the m-tech out in the truck too.

I started off collecting with a Boy Scout pocket knife and cheap souvenir Ideal and Colonial pockets knives with the names of various places we visited on vacation. Then the Buck 110 folding hunter entered my life and it got serious.

This knife reignited my love of knives.

AO, polished G10, Ti liners, Wharncliffe blade. What a beauty.

The knife that turned me on to quality modern folders was my saber ground FRN Spyderco Delica. I had always assumed before I owned this knife that modern knives were inferior to more traditional knives and it really exceded my expectations by a great deal and set me on the path I'm currently on in the knife world.

I don't entertain the thought of calling myself a knife "collector" but more of a buyer/user. Since I could not afford a Jimmy Lile, my first "upscale" knife that I bought was a Buck 110 Folding Hunter back in 1988. In retrospect, I should have bought the Buckmaster instead when they were available.

I've loved knives since I was a kid, don't know why. I went through a bunch never really collecting and then a few years ago I wanted a folder to carry and I bought a Benchmade. Don't remember what model it was and it's at the bottom of Lake Washington now but it caused me to get back into knives. Since I live a mile from the SOG HQ I bought a Trident and really liked it so I decided to buy some more and started looking at the old Seki made SOGs, I got a Tech II and that was it. It's an amazing knife and my favorite, It's SOG at their pinnacle. Now I have a pretty big collection. I guess you could really say the Tech II did it at full blown collecting but the Benchmade got me back into it.
