I think I had two 'flippers" from back in the 70's and later. A Gerber "Paul" button lock that I continually flipped open and close. It had precision construction. It was high-end back in the day.

The othe,r and probably the most fun to flip, was a balisong/butterfly knife

A great Youtube video of balisong.

What was yours?

ZT 0350...a great knife.
I've had others...perhaps my favorite is another ZT, the 0770 in M390. This one is only three ounces, and still solid and strong. I have enjoyed the Spyderco Brad Southard, Domino, Dice, and now the Southard AVO is on the way to me. I'm excited.
Flippers are nice, but seem to inhibit closeup work to some extent. So know this in advance.

My first would be the ZT 0750 in which I had 2 at a point of time and since then I have the 0200st, 0770, 0566bw and few more from other brands like kershaw, fox, crkt mainly.

Mine was a Buck 110. My Step Dad taught me how to break it in with powdered graphite and flick it open with one hand. I practiced that for hours and hours.

My first real flipper was a Kershaw JYD 2. It was terrible. You had to pitch it like a base ball to get it to lock open. The blade rubbed the off side liner no matter how you adjusted it. I ended up giving it to a friend who liked it before I bothered sending it back to Kershaw.

My first ever flipper was a ZT0560. I flipped it like crazy since I had never experienced KVT, flippers, or Ti frame locks before I got it. I've since sold it but I've had an itch to get one to replace it.

I bought a chive when I was 14-15 and I carried that thing a whole lot. I snapped the tip off and re ground it the speed safe also broke on me, still a great knife mabey it deserves a trip to kershaw for warranty

OP, Why the quotes around "flipper"? It's not really a newfangled term....:)

My first decent one was a zt 0566
