What knife would you buy for your girlfriend?

I've always thought the Spyderco Cricket had some feminine appeal. It has a small utility oriented blade, and the knife is very thin overall. Easily pocketable for those who don't like things to take up too much space.

Get her a Kershaw Rainbow Chive or a Pink Chive...Perfect for a lady. My wife now has my Chive and she loves it.

I think you already answered your own question...

I've been borrowing my friend's Kershaw Leek, and I've come to like the assisted opening feature, especially at work, where I've been using it to cut up boxes. I might get my own, or one like it, when I eventually have to give it back to her.

I would probably buy something on the smaller side though, depending on what it'll be used for. Spyderco ladybug is tiny but still plenty of cutting power for the small jobs. The leek isnt that bad of an option and if you want to splurge go for a damascus leek.

Since you mentioned having to wear gloves, a Spyderco with one of their larger opening holes might be appropriate to consider, such as the Spyderco Military or Para-Military.

If you're looking for a small knife the Spyderco Spin makes a great little purse knife. (my wife and daughters love their Spins) If you want something a little bigger the Benchmade Mini-Grip with the pink handles would make a pretty cool ladies knife.

Buy her one that won't hurt you to bad if you "P" her off. I bought my wife a Spyderco Cricket for work. She really likes it.

so sorry for the gender misunderstanding, please forgive me.
now then, pamper yourself, WILLIAM HENRY.

I bought my wife a Victorinox Tinker for her purse/pouch/bag whatever that thing she carries is called, and a Victorinox Classic for her keychain. She really likes them.

For you, get a Grip ...... a Benchmade Griptillian that is! Or go the his and hers route and get both of you Griptillians and Victorinox Classics for your keychains. I have a Mini-Grip in D2 from Cabelas when they were offering them. Nice size for my pocket, nice blade shape, smooth axis lock, solidly built.

My girlfriend stole my Spyderco Jester from me and then lost it. She also liked my griptilian.

Over the years I have bought my wife quite a few knives.....

Case Peanut, Victorinox Classic, Victorinox Camper, Leatherman Micra, Spyderco Toad, Spyderco Delica, Spyderco Salt I, Kershaw Rainbow Leek, SOG Sculptura, and some that I have forgotten.
But the one she likes the very most, and the one she carries every day since she got it is the Spyderco waved Endura 4.

She told me that she loves it because of the wave feature.

Keep in mind that my wife was a Combat Medic in the Army.;)

I have bought my girlfriend: nepalese kukri with straight handle, cold steel trail hawk, Colt hatchet, Spyderco Q, Meerkat, Kellam puuko (her favourite knife), Limited edition Benchmade switchback (23 of 50, I have 26 of 50), a couple of cheap swords/daggers, opinel, Leatherman Juice, CRKT lockback folder, and a Tool logic folder with firesteel/flashlight for her birthday or Christmas. Can you she likes the outdoors!

The last three knives I bought for my girlfriend were all serrated Spyderco Delicas. I am happy to report the edges are lasting longer now that she is in the floral business instead of landscaping. I think she is even harder on knives than I am ;)

It is a good knife, big enough to tackle most jobs, small enough to use around here without causing panic, lightweight yet durable. It lacks the assisted opening feature, but the opening hole make it easy to operate, even wearing gloves.

currently dating a girl that wants a pink delica, but my ex was a mini commander kind of girl

ps: i'll propose when i meet a girl that wants a big strider

Do it like me:

Get from every knife you like 2 pieces. If she likes one, you can give it to her, if not, you can sell it off, to get another pair of toys. And you will never have trouble that she will tell you not to buy more knives........... :D

I would buy the one (or two) that she wanted the most, and that fit her needs and hand size.
For you, I'd suggest that you think about what you like about the Leek, and what you don't like, and then try out as many different knives as you can until you start to know the shape and size you want.
Then start browsing--both here on bladeforums for info and at a web knife store like A G Russell. Start for what sort of knives catch your eye, refine your choice(s) by use, size, blade steel, and price--then buy.
Good hunting.
