You see variations on this theme in these forums quite frequently. Most of the time they end up getting downright silly, or start out that way. Invariably a key point gets lost. By definition, you can't schedule emergencies. You don't choose a knife in an emergency. You will deal with an emergency with whatever you have at hand at the time!
The much more important question then is what knives do you routinely choose to have at hand in different daily circumstances? To me, "at hand" means on your person or sometimes in your vehicle. The only kind of emergency that I know of where you perhaps can choose your knife after the fact is at home, and time constraints may make that impossible also.
Therefore, this is why I always have a large Busse in my vehicles. It is also why I carry the folder that in my opinion is the closest thing to a fixed blade that I have personally found, a LionSteel SR1, since Jerry doesn't offer a folder. This is why I always have at least two folders on me, the smaller being invariably a Spyderco Native, which will probably be replaced with an SR2 in time.
This is why I also find the "why carry a big folder" threads silly. Who would ever, ever, choose a smaller, more delicate knife in a true emergency? I will always have on me the largest knife I can reasonably carry in any given circumstance, because you can't call "time out" and go home to select your tools.
