What knife would you use in a survival scenario?

If you were in a 72 hr+ off grid survival scenario what one knife would you trust to fill the role of a survival knife? To make kindling, to prepare food, make a spear, make a shelter or to battle a zombie (just kidding with that last part). I personally would trust the TOPS silent hero. Looking forward to hearing your feedback!

don't know crap about the wild or about survival and that would be my downfall more than what knife I took. Based on a few youtube videos probably the least useless knife I have for the occasion would be a Mora Companion... maybe an Aitor Vivac? I'd probably take either of those two.

I have dozens of Mora companions and have one in every bag / pack I own.

Dirt cheap, super solid / reliable and a scandi grind is great with wood and they come sharp as hell!

He's right.

Everyone worried about "survival" needs to practice fasting.

I can do 72 hrs at any point, with no notice, easily and have done more than a week, before.

Get "fat adapted" and comfortable in ketosis.

Proper clothing is huge as well. Layer up!

Beyond that, always carry a mini Bic lighter and means of signaling others (whistle, mirror, charged phone / GPS, flare, etc)

A knife is one useful tool. Knowledge and practice is more important. Both combined gives you a serious, fighting chance.

The longest that I have went without eating anything is 5 days. It's very interesting how your brain turns every thought that you have into thoughts about food. I was remembering meals that I had never thought about before. I was trying my best not to think about food and my mind would remember meals that I had eaten before or after what it was that I was thinking about. And I could smell and taste it. LOL! It really was a trip!

The fasting and water comments are cool, but having read easily dozens, if not more, accounts of people in the typical 72 hour "survival scenario," many of them have had plenty of food and water to drink.

I also don't think a particular knife is the holy grail of survival in many of these situations, as many of the people who lived (and some who died) didn't seem to find themselves in situations where just a knife would have been the tipping point. Usually it is waiting for rescue, or they succumb to the elements, and in most cases it was horribly poor planning that landed them there in the first place, followed by lack of skill and thinking ability that made it permanent.

This suggests to me that a wicked awesome knife probably wouldn't have made a huge difference for them. Unless it had a hollow handle, of course. Then survival is guaranteed. See Deathvivor below.
