What knife you own has NEVER let you down?

is that the mini-ak?
Yes it is! A bit overpriced, but it is very strong with no play. Worth it in the end.
When are you going to actually use it? :p
Its an old picture. I took these yesterday!

I have never had a knife "let me down", but that may be because I only use knives for cutting. I also don't use folders for jobs that fixed are more suited for, and I don't use knives as screwdrivers, prybars, or hammers.
Thats not what I meant.
Things can still happen. It can chip without abuse.
Dropped, hit on something while in your pocket, etc.
some tips aren't very hard to break.
ZT 560 and a Strider SNG I have with the new lock geometry, which seems pretty solid. I'm sure my Umnumzaan or Micarta Insingo Sebenza would be fine as well, but I don't subject them to too much hard use and I WOULD question, at least a little, any use that would scratch their blade badly or break a tip or whatever (mostly with the Sebenza since the Insingo might not be around forever and it's already hard to find them with Micarta). Maybe I'll use a CRK enough one day that I can finally dedicate one to a completely unreserved "user", but for now I just don't want to be too rough on them :)

And I would include the PM2 and Millie in this too, but I've broken tips on them before. I don't do even the slightest bit of prying with a knife anymore, and I know some people don't have any trouble with their thin tips, but the fact that I've broken them with very light use just makes me feel like they're a little more fragile of a knife. Even though they're not, they're very tough, and they're some of my all-time favorites. :)

Ive got 2. My Izula 2 gets the hard abuse, and it does it daily, but has never let me down in any way. Ive put a few years, and countless miles on a Delica that yook it all in stride. Its retired now, having started carrying a BM Grip, but its still a capable edc.

Lg Micarta Insingo and Spyd Millitary.
Both get used daily, and I have a hard time testing my other folders because these two do the job so well.

Im going to take you up on the "fixed blades are ok" statement! My Esee Izula 2 has seen tons of action. There are two chips in the blade from punching through pieces of metal in wood i was batoning. The coating has seen better days. She's not pretty, but she is still going. I have opened bottles with the spine, batoned through more Georgia pine, sweet gum, and oak than i can remember, cut wire, carved out bow drill sets and traps and much much more than any of my knives. I have bigger knives that i know can take this abuse, but the torture is saved for the Izula 2. I like the size because its great for detail carving, but just big enough to process firewood. I dont live in really harsh conditions, so i dont need a large tool to collect tons of large pieces of firewood. Anyway thats my rant for this thread! Sorry of its too long!

The only way I've had knives let me down has been with manufacture or overall quality. If its a more affordable knife, I can let things slip by though. The #1 aspect I've learned of knives in the last 10+ years of being active on the online community has been words stated on the CRK warranty cards. Something like: "This knife will be your most trustworthy companion, helper, defender. Take care of it and it will take care of you." I have yet to come across a situation where I NEED to put a knife in a destructive place. This includes using a $475 SnG to take down a pallet when cold & no other tools available to spending an entire winter with no fuel other than wood for cooking & heat. I made a LOT of kindling with a SWKW Rat Warden that winter... or a 4 day river trip when NONE of the other people brought a single knife untold tasks were preformed with a Lg. Sebenza. These circumstances are few and far between. On a day to day basis, a nice knife clipped to my pocket weighs heavily as a reminder that improvisation is the most valuable tool I possess.

My daily knife needs are not very demanding, so this Swiss Army Knife is what gets used the most for every day tasks and hasn't let me down.

I have the Mini AK47, good knife just wish it came in better steel. None of my knives have ever let me down because I only buy quaility knives. but if your asking which knife I want in my pocket when I really need it, for me its also my Paramillitary II (brown sprint run S35VN). its not my most expensive or prettiest knive or even the best steel (that belongs to my Barrage in M390), but you cant beat the PM2. I'm thinking of dropping some cash to get one in M390 or XHP but hard to justify spending that kind of cheddar on a knife.

I'd have to say that my AK-47 is the one folding knife as a never let me down knife.

However, you almost perfectly described everything that the AK-47 was designed to do. It definitely could be a better knife.... better steel, better paint, and its a little to rugged for my everyday needs.

Spyderco P2, best all around knife IMHO. I've used it in almost any situation I can think of, except self defense, and it has never let me down.

I have had dozens of knives including ZT, spyderco, benchmade, microtech but the one I will never sell is my SOG Vision with titanium handle. It's been solid and flawless since I bought it in 2005.

my BM 950 in good old fashioned 154CM. i keep trying to replace it but it has always done what i need and i never felt under-bladed with it.

-It has never failed
-you don't question hard uses
-you trust it for every job big or small
-maybe it has helped in an emergency of some sort

My Izula. Honestly, none of my knives have failed, but I don't use them for the same jobs, question if they can handle them, and don't trust them for every job. Plus the Izula has helped in an emergency...

Only other knife I have that meets that is a Buck 119, but I don't really trust it for small tasks.
