What knive (or knives) are you carrying today?

Today I carried a Spyderco Chinook in my jeans pocket, I had a spyderco Rescue Assist clipped to the drivers seatbelt in the 5 ton work truck ( i see a LOT of accidents everyday while out truckin' - its good to have a seatbelt cutter/window breacher handy.), In the tool cubby i had a short heavy machete for chopping up garbage (sometims i have to break apart drywall sheets, boxes, trees etc so they fit into the roll off bins.), a Parker Big Horn folder in a Don Hume leather sheath in my briefcase, along with a Ranger Little Bird.

for my evening stroll tonite i'll be wearing a large Bowie on a shoulder sheath, with a Chinook clipped to my jeans, and a SAK Soldier in my pocket. Might even throw in a BRKT Slither. I'll also have any one of my trusted walking sticks, tonight i'll prolly carry my shillelagh and a FENIX P1D flashlight.

Tommorow i'll be carrying both the Chinook and the Assist, the machete will be swapped out with a Khukuri, the Parker will be swapped out to a SOG Flash2, adn the Ranger will be swapped for a Becker Necker. Prolly throw in a Spyderco SS Cricket too

A Spyderco Manix has been my EDC for the past three months - and used every day. (Even I can't believe it - I'm one of those universally-derided "collectors"!) Backed by a tiny wharncliffe-bladed CRKT K.I.S.S. in my watch pocket, and a small SAK on my keychain. Then I sometimes add a custom folder somewhere just for the "feel-good" factor.

I wasn't going to mention it because of the spamstorm the other day, but since you brought it up, I actually like the Mantis MK-1 for a decent utility knife. I used to carry a no-name hawkbilled folder when I was going to be cutting lots of boxes and such, so it isn't much of a change. I don't carry it daily, as it is larger than my Kershaw. But the hooked blade just rips through cardboard, twine, and just about anything else I toss at it. I sharpened up the false edge so I could use it to chop with as well, but I am not sure that made it better for everyday carry. When I tried the trick with a zip tie through the finger hole in the blade to pop it open like an Emerson when you pull it out of your pocket, I just about sliced my finger off. I felt pretty stupid about that one. I had to take the zip tie back off once I stopped bleeding. Still, that was my stupidity, not the knife. And I like being able to use both edges. For a working knife (a weird concept for a karambit) it isn't bad.
