What knive (or knives) are you carrying today?

Did your custom wave fail because of the second edge you made?

Nope. It didn't fail. It worked like a charm. The problem was the now-sharpened back of the blade went zipping past my fingers at a high speed. It wasn't too much of a problem the first dozen or so times I did it. But the last time I tried it, my ring finger was a bit to close to the path of the opening blade. I didn't even feel it, as it was so quick and so clean. Talk about feeling stupid. I figure I can do one modification or the other on this kind of knife. Since I already sharpened the back of this one, and I do use that edge for chopping and scraping, I'll live with the slower opening speed. But if I get another one (he is supposed to be coming out with an improved version this summer), I'll leave the back edge dull, and go with the speed opener. It was nice having it practically pop open when I pulled it out one-handed to cut stuff while my other hand was full. But I REALLY like being able to count higher than 9 on my fingers...

p.s. I forgot to mention, I use that same trick with the zip tie through the thumb hole to make a wave on 2 other karambits I have. I like it, and it works well. But I am not overly impressed with the blade geometry on the other two. They don't hook forward enough to cut as well this one does. And I have NOT tried to sharpen the back edges of those for a few reasons. First, one cut finger is enough. Second, their blades are the wrong shape for chopping down with the back. And third, they don't have the false edge on the back that is protected by the handle when closed, so that if I did sharpen them, I would have an unguarded edge bouncing around in my pocket. That is never a good thing.

Oops, I think that's kinda what I meant: did you get cut waving it because of the second edge you put on it.

These past couple of months I have been carrying around a Gerber Mini Covert. I like it, just that the pocket clip gets loose every now and then. It has kept a sharp edge and It looks cool. Isnt that what matters?;)

Today I carried this 3.5" closed Ohta. Sharp as a razor and carries really well.
