What knives did you use today? What did they accomplish?

Tell us about what knives you used today and what tasks you used them for. Pictures are always great.

Today I used my Wusthof Classic to make dinner. The Kabar Mk1 was carried in my bag all day, and used to split logs for fire in backyard. The Rat 1 folder is my edc and cut boxes, food, and open various things as well as cleaned fingernails. Last is my cheap Ozark lockback I carried as an extra blade in case people who were knife sensitive were around.

I used my Sod Buster to make a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast & cut up a burrito at dinner and my Pioneer to change a thermostat at a customers house.

Double post sorry. Not sure what happen. See below for actual post.

Opened a honey packet at dinner with my CF Boker Kwaiken. I swear, even though they come with a little slit that you're supposed to tear, sometimes they just make me look like a little 5 year old girl...

I used my buck vantage pro to turn a empty water bottle into an odd shaped funnel to drain the oil out of a walk behind lawn mower. Carried my zt 0562 out to dinner in case my food started trying to jump off my plate. My back up knife, as always, carried on my belt is a grey FFG endura 4.

Fetzer85, yes like you i use my knife to get over the little pre tears on packaging.
I used my Benchmade 555 today to open a boil rice package and to cut some green beans as well as a leaf bag at the depot. I also used it to cut out my E-migratory bird permit for tomorrow. Had it been a more exciting day i would have used my Junglas to hack but today was just a regular ol day since you asked Dr rez.

Used my Benchmade Panther, which happened to be open sitting on the strop, to open a twin-pack jumbo roll paper towel package.

The Brawny ones were no match for the ATS-34 from the '90's. Poke..Zzzzip... Presto: Door #1.

This pic is from last week, but I just finished eating a delicious meal prepared by my Don Andrade Camp Cleaver. The scene in my kitchen an hour ago looked a lot like this:

Besides that i used my Dervish Navajo midtech to take down a couple boxes. And not much else today...

That poor onion never stood a chance.

ZT 0200 was carried as primary defense tool since I could not carry my gun in the stadium. ESEE Izula 2 carried weak side as a backup, and when carrying my gun, is perfect as a weapons retention knife. If I'm in a situation where I am trying to keep my gun in the holster if someone is fighting to take it, it is set up to grab and start slashing.

Thankfully, they were only carried today, and did not have to be used.

Used my Benchmade Axis Stryker in M4 to gut, clean, and butcher several rabbits I killed today and turn them into stew. I have been very impressed with this knife. It seems that the M4 in this Benchmade stays sharp longer than the M4 in the Gayle Bradley, and the carbon fiber is not only good to look at, but it also stays a relatively constant, moderate temperature, even when subjected to freezing temperatures. This is a very nice feature when using the knife in the cold. Additionally, the carbon fiber stays relatively grippy even when subjected to blood. Very satisfied with this knife.

What did you use to get the rabbits?

Used my Zt561 to cut rope and string to set up a VFW recruiting booth, one of the other guys had his Leatherman out sawing away at the rope and I just sliced right through it with a easy pull. He looked at me an then at his blade and said "I thought mine was sharp" and laughed. After that he wanted to know what I used to put a edge on.

I cut some tape, some rope and a hose. I also let a few guys at work barrow it and it actually came back still sharp! Win

Used my non-locking Sanrenmu 7050SUC to

  • Cut open the packaging for a new server processor
  • Open several desktop computer boxes
  • Open several RAM packages for upgrading the computers mentioned earlier
  • Cut myself on the back of my second finger (definitely not done on purpose, was a silly accident)
  • Slice open the packing straps on a server box
  • Open an air mail package that was wrapped top to bottom with tape (actually, a pair of scissors would have done this much more efficiently)

I got to work and discovered I had left my Cold Steel (Hold Out AND my Mini Tuff Lite) at home on my table by the couch.
I paniced . . . I thought "Here I am . . . in the open . . . at work . . . naked (no knife)" . . . quick . . . THINK . . . how to cope with this large and looming shipping box blocking my escape . . .
then I remembered . . . in my "Take to work" case . . . was stowed a Gerber EAB light . . . . . . .
I made a grab for it and got it.

Took down that shipping box just as it charged !
I kept the label as a trophy. I'll mount it and hang it on the wall of my lair . . . I mean . . . my den. . . . when I have time . . . as a reminder of my narrow escape . . . and to for ever more be more careful in my preparations when going into the wild.

Next . . . I got home and was attempting to fix dinner. What's this ? . . . a pouch full of guacamole . . . how do I open this so that I might get this goodness in me . . .
I threw it on the floor a few times . . . pouncing on it as I had seen cats do. Hey this plastic is tough . . .
I batted it around the floor and gnawed on it for a while. Nothing. It resisted my every attack.

THEN

I remembered the Gerber EAB light.
A calm confidence descended over me and I began to swagger with that knowing air that only an old Bawana might display who has stood his ground and triumphed when all others ran from the charge of the king of beasts.

Soon I was spooning out that green goodness onto my pork tamales.

Oh yah and the Case Trapper helped me over come and divide a lemon for a carbonated water refreshment.

Quiet day at work, Sunday here in NZ, used the 0770 to open the packaging of my just arrived WE upgrade kit and angle cube.
Put the WE parts on, put that M390 into the clamp and took it down to about 13.5' per side, according to the cube. Not a perfect mirror edge but oh my does it slice. Push cut A4 easy as, sliced cheap paper towels and newspaper very nicely. Spent the rest of the day cutting open coffee sachets, shredding management memos, cut a few cable ties, cut up some cardboard boxes to go in the furnace, anything I could find to cut just to enjoy the sharpness.
