I am leaving soon for a ten day trip to see inlaws. I'm trying to decide what knives I am taking. My wife is limiting me to 3. I got to wondering...what 3 of your edc knives would you take on a trip? I'm thinking horseman, 0561, swamprat warden.

Just wondering, but do you get to limit her to just 3 pairs of shoes? :D

No offense, but if my woman tried to tell me how many knives I could carry, I'd be getting a new woman. No joke. :)

Haha. It's a weight compromise. 2 adults and 1 toddler in 2 bags shipped underneath.

If I could bring three it would be my ZT0900 and my carson lab boiling. Probably wouldnt risk losing a third. Those two cover my needs.

Mind reader!

I would probably pack an extra suit case, and put nothing but my entire knife collection in it. It'd be the first bag to get packed. :)

You driving or flying? I would take my usual EDC (s) unless there is someone there that has an interest in knives. Then I would cater to what I think they might find interesting that they hadn't seen before.

1) manix bd1 lw 2) sak.... Ummm I feel fine at this point and likely don't pack a 3rd... I have to? Ok well I'd prob throw in my mora companion...

That all depends on what you are planning on doing when you get there. Fishing or other outdoor activities involved would mean very different choices. If going to visit someone in town I would probably stick with my normal daily carry when off work and not even need a third.

Griptillian and my Vic Farmer or Tinker would be plenty for that kind of trip.

If heading outdoors at all I would add a Mora No 1 or 2/0 to the mix.

I rarely carry a plier based tool around town, but when travelling I like the added versatility of a capable multitool and might would consider adding a Leatherman Wave to my bag, though I doubt I would carry it on my person.

Take the one that you carry at home, if your cutting needs are expected to be similar. Be aware of special state laws that might limit blade-length, or lock-type. Stay OUT of New York if you value your freedom. NYPD is not very understanding of many pocket-knives, although obviously their state laws and politicians are the screwy ones.

Leatherman Juice CS4. Spyderco Endura. Buck 119. Done. Oh, I might have a SAK Classic for the tweezers and toothpick. Sorry, that's four. By the rules, I'd leave the SAK and take my key ring with P38, tweezers, Gerber nail clippers, peanut lighter, etc.

I just did a 8 day trip to my mom's. Brought a Spyderco Grasshopper, Spyderco Cat, Gerber Multitool (can't remember the model) and a BK-10. Only the Cat was used, and I carried it every day.

If you're flying, put your blades in your checked bag and take the handles in your carry on bag.

Considering my father in law is an engineer and has a good amount of tools, and it's apparently a flight, I wouldn't feel obliged to bring a multitool like would on a road trip.

A standard blur and a cheaper folder (CRKT or something of that nature) neither of which is difficult to replace if luggage gets lost or one is misplaced/left behind while traveling... Plus a lady shoe or two, to pop the top off of any beers we may encounter...
